We spent the weekend at the Mercure - The Terrace. The service is great - very attentive and informative where possible. The buffet breakfast - very fruitful and the flat whites were alright (I am a self confessed espresso snob). the one complaint I do have is that we checked out on Monday before 11am, it is now Wednesday morning and the remainder of the $100 bond HAS STILL NOT BEEN CREDITED TO MY VISA, despite a request yesterday and another will be made today. The mini bar was removed, so none of that consumed. The only thing we needed to pay for was parking - $36.00. Come one Mercure. You can do a little better than this as your lasting impression on the guest.
Beautiful view from room as described and lovely restaurant view to the harbour. Helpful staff. Small bathroom our only negative
Nice clean, convenient well priced 3 star hotel
Nice hotel. Our grandchildren enjoyed the pool. Only problem was fire alarm went off at about 10-30pm just as kids going to sleep and they were so frightened by having to get up and run down the stairs and outside they couldn't sleep. So not very restful- all ended up tired and cranky on what was supposed to be a weekend away to celebrate the grand daughters birthday- these things happen.
while the room i stayed in was a little small, certainly fine if you are there by yourself, the overall experience was above my expectations. Reception staff were amazing, and i was lucky enough to witness a very difficult situation with a person wanting accommodation, although the hotel was fully booked, the staff member did everything he could (and then more) to calm and comfort the distraught girl, while helping her find accommodation elsewhere
Hotel was clean and efficient. Conference rooms available for meetings. Hotel located about 4-5 blocks from the main restaurants and stores.
Good place to stay. Breakfast was good too
we enjoyed the heated pool, which was lovely and warma dn well maintained. The pool area could do with refurbishing however (a paint job would suffice). Inside the motel was a little confusing to find your way around with many stairwells leading to staff areas or dead ends, which could have been better sign posted.
Staff very friendly, evening chicken meal was fantastic - compliments to the chef last friday night! Hotel facilities definitely tired, shower in our room either icy cold or boiling hot - dangerous!! also pillows hard and flat - we enquired at reception for a softer pillow option but told that the firm ones we had were standard issue. Whilst the hotel is further away from the CBD than most (reflected in the cheaper night rate) the walk down hill is easy and refreshing in the Welington wind and it is only $8 to $10 for a taxi back up the hill later on.
Through (website) I booked a superior room with 2 double beds. We received a room that had 1 double bed and a single fold out bed. 1 towel and 1 flannel, the room was right next to the lifts so that was all we heard all night. The bathroom was as small as a closet and in dire need of repairs. After the first night I did complain (in a nice manner) and we were upgraded to a better one bedroom suite. However it still only had 1 true double bed and a foldout couch, which comfort wise was worse than the fold out trundler bed. We did have the correct towels but the spare bed only had sheets and 1 blanket folded at the end of it. I would not pay the money we did for this type of accomodation again.
quiet location, seems out of town but in reality very close to upper willis. nice views if you get sea side. facilities a bit 'tired' in places, but clean and functional
It was a more than satisfactory stay. Comfortable, affordable and friendly.
A very friendly helpful staff, clean tidy warm rooms, cannot find fault A most enjoyable stay
Adequate hotel with rather strange and confusing layout, quite difficult to access on foot. Strange dining room, with limited food after 8.30 pm. Bedroom OK. Overall OK for an overnight stay.
Helpful staff, great special price, not top grade bathroom paint work but clean and adequate for our needs.
This motel was a little further out from Cuba Street Mall than I would have liked, but was priced accordingly. This distance was no problem in fine weather, but we had to catch taxi's in and out of the city in the rain as there was no shelter on the walk down. The staff were friendly and and rooms we more-than adequate; we had 2 comfortable queen size beds. Some redecorating was needed in the bathroom due steam/heat damage as there wasn't any ventillation or fan systems, but the showers were good as was hvaing a bath!
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We liked the location because it was away from the hustle and bustle yet still central. Everything was great however only downfall was waiting for an hour for our dinner to be served at the Hotel restaurant. Would definitely return to stay at Mercure. Great carpark also.
Far from city centre. Old hotel, old bathroom, pretty ordinary room.
Great in all areas, could do with more lighting in room
