"This was THE BEST hotel we have stayed at in Europe! It was clean, comfortable and the restaurant was EXCELLENT. We only paid 35 Euro for an amazing meal- with great wine! The breakfast is also great, complete with homemade jams! A Rhein Cruise leaves right from the dock outside and was coordinated for us by the owner of the Hotel. The Rhine-Hotel Restaurant Merkelbach is a comfortable hotel, directly situated at the river Rhine in Koblenz. Since 1724 in family property we maintain a long tradition of hospitality in our house.
We are in direct proximity to the city centre of Koblenz (1,8 km) with its purchase possibilities and the old town. In our house you can escape the hustle and bustle and the noise of the city. The Hotel Merkelbach is located on the right bank of the Rhine in the quarter Koblenz-Pfaffendorf opposite the city center of Koblenz.
Our 14 guest rooms were renovated in the middle of 2004 and are furnished modern and friendly with shower/toilet, telephone, cable-TV and WLAN internet access. There are also rooms with large balcony to the river Rhine available.
We are particularly suitable if you are planning a bicycle tour or walking-trip. The well-known hiking trail "Rheinsteig" (320 km long, following the river Rhine) is passing alongside our house.
There is also a shipping pier at our house. From spring till autumn there are ships leaving for castle trips on Rhine and Moselle.
Our restaurant is open from wednesday to sunday.
Let yourself be spoiled by our excellent kitchen and the great number of wines we offer. Enjoy regional and international specialties in a neat ambiance.

By car:
Coming from express motor road A 61:
You leave the A 61 at the motorway interchange Koblenz and change to the A 48 (direction Köln-Frankfurt). After 5,7 km take the exit "Koblenz Nord" and follow the B9 in direction Koblenz for 5 km. After crossing the bridge "Europa Brücke" you get into Koblenz city. Stay on the main street (along the "Friedrich-Ebert-Ring" B49) for about 800 m heading towards the Rhine bridge "Pfaffendorfer Brücke". You leave the bridge on the right hand side and arrive in Pfaffendorf. About 500 m ahead you will find our hotel.
By train:
From Koblenz main station to our house it is about 2,5 km. You can get to the HOTEL MERKELBACH by taxi FOR FREE if you call the telephone number 0261 - 988 55 36.
