Metropole Hotel Phuket

In general, my stay was not bad. The hotel was a bit far from downtown.

Good location as it is right smack in the centre of town but also where all the night spots are so there is a bit of noise although bearable. Near to shops and food places. Room is ok but furnishings are really old.

Good clean hotel, but a little old. In the centre of the town centre close to shops, but quite a way from the beaches. Near good shopping. Staff were friendly, helpful and polite. A reasonable choice of breakfast supplied, but nothing startling.

I got a last minute booking so the price was very good. The Hotel is very luxurious and the cafe serves great food. Try the white wine! The swimming pool is not the greatest but ok. I had a confirmation and a voucher but when I got there I still got the message that "Asia" had not 'confirmed' my booking! Guess I was lucky there was a room free. Strange. Be prepared to pay a deposit if you pay cash, no deposit if you pay with VISA etc. High building = great view. Very central in Phuket Town. Close to shopping (200 meters).

Overall, my comments in Phuket town it's one of the best. Though the hotel is a bit run down , it really need upgrading if they want to stay competitive. The reception staff are warmth and courteous. The swimming pool and Gym facilities need to be upgraded , carpet a little old and smelly . Breakfast choice reasonably okay, however if you are late the food will not be replenished. The waitress will attend to you if you demand for the top up. Otherwise, the rooms are reasonably good and comfortable. Movie channel not much choices and most are in Thai languages.

Service is below expection, breakfast needs to be improved.

Pleasant stay, very clean and roomy. Old hotel. Reasonably central to shopping etc. Very hard to communicate with staff in reception as they do not understand english. Pool okay but seats are like rocks - wooden slats with no cushions. Shower great.

I stayed for few nights in the beginning of January -07 and was very satisfied with my accommodation. Big rooms with good beds and big bathrooms, breakfast buffee started already at 6 am, helpful staff, good location in the city centre, beach areas like Kata were yet easily accessed by e.g. a motorbike (about 20 min drive). The only negative thing: room windows couldn't be opened (at least those on high floors).

Metrolpole Hotel Phuket is about a 3.5 star hotel. Facilities and services are good. The hotel itself however appears to be fairly old or not well maintained. It is located within the Phuket town where little night activities are available. Most shops close at 10 P.M. It is OK for the pricing and is good if you do not like night life.

If you can´t drive don´t consider this hotel, but then again don´t consider Phuket because you would not only want to see one of the five or so best beaches in the world and eat at only one of the many, many great restaurants across the island.

The hotel was located in a good position and the staff were exceptional in their service and willing to help in every way possible, would definately stay there again, ask for a room at the back as the nightclub on the street below next door is very load with the music till the wee hours of the morning, other than that I couldn't fault it.
