Metropole & Suisse Hotel Como

We were very lucky to be given a newly renovated room and bathroom. The bathroom is fairly spacious by european standards and the toiletries provided was above our expectation..they even provided a satchet of aloe vera make-up remover ...very Japanese in service! However the srping bed needs some getting used to as it's very bouncy for me.

A lovely hotel not too expensive with a view of the lake. Staff were friendly facilities good. The room was spacious and clean, bed comfortable. The whole place had a lovely feel about it as did the surrounding shops and cafes.

Grand hotel in ideal location, very knowledgeable reception (good restaurant recommendations). No modern facilities (gym, pool etc)

We found a fantastic rate on this hotel. We decided to take the lowest price available, so we did not include breakfast. We can not comment on the food because we never ate there. Even with the low rate, we were given a room with a balcony overlooking the harbor. The view was fantastic, as was the location. The bathroom was a bit small, but it had been remodeled. We will definitely return on our next trip to Como. We stayed for two nights around the middle of September 2009.

The hotel is in a great location, but it has clearly seen better days. I'm sure 25 years ago it was a beautiful hotel, but now it just feels tired and run down...especially for 170 Euros...not worth it in my opinion.

Very clean and compfortable. Well placed for train (North Como Largo), buses, taxis and lake ferries. Restaurant not part of hotel so cannot book to room. Restaurant closes at 10.00 pm. English spoken by all so good for non speakers of Italian.

In a great location for lake, ferries and Como old town. I stayed in Room 20, (second floor) which has a small balcony and perfect view across the lake. There is a busy road between the lake and hotel but the double glazed french doors and electronic shutters effectively screen noise at night. The hotel exudes an air of faded grandeur, reflected in the decor which is a little tired. The built in cabinetry is creative - check the notch cut out of the bathroom door so it can pass the basin! The entrance lobby and dining areas are contemporary and comfortable again with a great view. Lobby staff are not particularly welcoming but dining staff are. Pricey but good food in the restaurant. 4 star location and food, 3 star everything else. I would absolutely stay there again for the view alone. Try walking though the old town walls into the newer part or across to villa omo for a different view of como.

Right on the lake this is an ideal hotel to stay, we loved it!

Best possible location in Como. Wonderful view of Lake. Staff and facilities good. Would stay there again.

We were only there overnight so comment is selective but it seemed a bit expensive for what you get.

EXCELLENT POSITION. VIEWS OF THE LAKE. ROOM CLEAN AND A GOOD SIZEBUT A LITTLE BIT TIRED IN LOOKS.

Hotel furnishings and Decor are very dated and require upgrading.

Friendly staff. Great location at lake front - minutes away from boat station, cafes, restaurants and shopping centres. Difficult to find parking. Rooms are air-conditioned.

Very nice hotel in a great location. Since there was no air conditioning, we had to keep windows open. Very noisy!!. Ask for a room in back if weather is hot.

The view of the lake from the room was awesome and it was a most enjoyable stay
