For an overnight stay close to the car ferry port this is an excellent hotel. Five minutes to the ferry. Clean and with a good breakfast thrown in plus a good restaurant for an evening meal.
Excellent Hotel, we have stayed a few times and the friendly greeting is good, old fashioned lovely rooms, great beds for a lovely nights sleep. Close to good restauarants, particularly La Bigoudene just off Place D'Armes. Breakfast a little poor when the hotel is full but definately 5 stars and will be there again soon.
excellent hotel fiendly staff good facilities
Don't be put off by the street - in effect the hotel carpark - or the exterior. This is a privately-owned neo-Edwardian gem with character. Super food and service. Period style, but thoughtful modern touches. E.G: wacky automated self-service breakfast, which worked well, and lovely old bathroom basins and taps fitted with ceramic valves. We shall use it again.
Quiet central location. A bit dated. Garage a bonus.
we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this very authenticly french hotel.
The hotel public areas of the hotel are very charming with a mix of period furniture and modern paintings. A very impressive staircase to the upper floors flows into the lobby. The Staff are very friendly and helpful and I would reccomend to stay here again for either a weekend or a pre/post ferry crossing. The only dissapointment was the bar prices at 24 eur for 4 x Richard this was a rip off compared to the local bars and cafe's where the same order was 8.7 eur. Dispite the bar prices a great hotel
The Meurice is conveniently situated in central Calais and whilst extremely clean is more than a little tired in places. A little bit like staying in an antique shop!!!!
Lovely hotel perfect place to stay, spacious and lovely period decor, perfect for a stay in calais, close to place des armees and good restaurants!! Room was very large with plenty of facilities, lovely bathroom and shower. would recommend to everyone.
A pleasant hotel close to the city centre and the port.
Like a trip back in time. The hotel is charming and rather old fashioned. In need of a bit if a clean here and there but the bed linen and towels were fresh. Easy reach of all that Calais has to offer - shopping etc. Ideal for a one night stay to make the booze run a bit more fun. The staff were friendly - bottled wine would have been nice at the bar rather than a wine box (not very French).
An unexpected pleasure, this Hotel mixed typical classic french interior with modern features such as a whirlpool bath and flat screen TV. The continental breakfast was more than adequate and the staff friendly and efficient. Parking was no problem and the Hotel is only 2 minutes walk from the town centre.
This hotel is good fun to stay in and is weird in a wonderful way, like an Antique shop, our room however could have been cleaner ie, wardrobe mirror was dirty and so was the window sill dusty but this didn't spoil our stay
I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The rooms are lovely, the breakfasts superb, the service excellent. Sure there is the odd bit of peeling wallpaper, and the world's slowest lift; if those sort of things put you off then stay elsewhere and leave this marvelous place to those of us who can appreciate it
Excellent food in La Diligence restaurant. Charming antique furnishings Comfy and snug bar with range of liqueurs Large rooms Tolerant of dogs (a delightful Weimeraner lives in!)
Hotel was very old fashioned looking but was clean. The restaurant was not open the night I stayed which was strange for a Saturday night in the height of the summer season. Overall, we had a pleasant stay.
Well located. Has character. Room good. Bar small
Staff very helpful, breakfast had a varied choices, Rooms very spacious, Bath excellent. overall would definitely stay again and would recommend it, close to Square and train station both minutes walk from the hotel.
fanatstic hotel with wonderfully comfortable and clean rooms and courteous friendly service. very welcoming of our children, understanding and helpful. we will certainly use it again as good end to long drive back from the Alps
We use this Hotel whenever we go to England. It is like an hotel from past days , antique furniture etc ,plenty of room , almost like an apartment.Food exceptional. We love it.
