Eyre Square Galway
When staying at one of Ireland’s finest hotels, one comes to expect the very best. Elegant, refined sophisticated; the Hotel Meyrick (formerly Great Southern Hotel Galway) is unique. Built in 1845 in the heart of the Galway City on Eyre Square, it has played an integral part in the life of the city for 160 years. During 2003 the hotel underwent an extensive re-investment programme, which combines its Victorian features with modern facilities. Combine the old and new features of the hotel, its magnificent location and dedicated team of employees, and it is easy to see why they say it is unique.

Fab location, friendly staff, great buffet breakfast. Only downpoint was our room. Very small room on 3rd floor where there is no air con (windows couldn't be opened either). In saying that, we didn't complain as only really in the room to sleep. Out and about during the day.
Excellent location however badly in need of refurbishment. Very dark inside. Room was a decent size clean & tidy but you cannot hide the fact that a refit is overdue. The Radisson is 4* also therefore the Meyrick is NOT!
Bedrooms are extremely warm, making sleeping difficult. Opening the window made little difference. However I couldn't fault the rest of the hotel facilities and staff are excellent.
Nice hotel in the center of Galway, great breakfast, we were 3 persons staying in a spacious double room without any problems at EUR 160 a night.
There were 25 of us who stayed at the Meyrick at the weekend for my Hen weekend and it was absolutely fabulous. The service and staff were fantastic. It was central, has a funky cocktail bar and the spa is brilliant. I would definitely recommend it to anyone else.
really nice hotel. great location. cool decor. a little overpriced especially food and drink
Bar lacks atmosphere. Reception staff very friendly and efficient.Equipment ( eg step ladder, trolly for room cleaning) left in public areas and take away from the overall standard of the hotel. Overall I thought it was good value for money.
Best nights sleep in a long time.
Beautifully located overlooking Eyre Square, the centre of Galway City :our windows overlooked the square. Room was spacious and excellent in its furnishings. Staff were most helpful. This one hundred and fifty year old hotel has real character.
Very much enjoyed our stay. Excellent location . Staff gave excellent service
The Hotel Meyrick in Galway is situated on Eyre Square in the middle of Galway City. Staff were excellent. Stayed on the 5th Floor and the rooms were fantastic, we couldn't believe we got it so cheap. There's a swimming pool and sauna, and those on the 5th floor can get their breakfast in the executive lounge on that floor. Excellent hotel, can't wait to go back and stay there again.
Wonderful hotel with great facilities right in the heart of Galway City. A definite must for those visiting Galway!!!
Location of the hotel is excellent and the room we stayed in was nice. The health club was half decent although the Canadian hot tub was not working on the second day of our stay. The service at breakfast was a shambles. The portions of the cooked breakfast were very small and the tea and toast arrived when we had nearly finished eating. The levels of english of a lot of the staff was apalling. In summary, we will be looking to stay in the Radisson hotel the next time we visit Galway.
A bit noisy in the morning due to the railway station, but cant be helped!
The location is perfect for those wanting to explore the city centre of Galway. Right in the city centre at Eyre Square, the hustle and bustle of the town is right on your doorstep. The service is spectacular with friendly efficient staff and this hotel also has the added bonus of a bar open to approx 3am for residents and a carpark round the corner that costs a mere €3 for 24 hours! I will definately be staying here again!
The Staff were friendly and courteous and the service excellent.
The room allocated to us was quite small and although the hotel was suppose to have been refurbished recently, it did not appear to be the case in the bedroom and ensuite.
Lovely hotel with staff who really look after you, the bar & restaurant facilities are 1st class.
Very central in the middle of Galway within walking distance of all amenities. Old worlde interior with lots of charm.
