Built in unique style (finished in1995) and situated in the touristic area of Funchal away from the traffic and main roads, only 20 minutes from the centre this 3 stars residencial has 20 rooms, all decorated in a romantic style.

Getting there:
Take the dual carriage way following signs for Funchal. Exit left at the signpost for Funchal/Hospital/Porto. Drive round the roundabout and take the exit marked Hospital/Avenida do Mar. At the traffic lights, turn right towards Cmara de Lobos and stay in the left hand lane on the road called Estrada Monumental, than after passing all the traffic lights turn in your first right, drive up 100 meters and turn right again, drive up 200 metres more until you see a sign for the Monte Verde. The Monte Verde is just 15 minutes walk from the bustling harbour. Madeira Airport is 20 kms away (20 mins).

Very good value for money. We had a huge room with a balcony and a sea view for only Eur40 a night (early May). It is a small pleasant hotel, with a pool and a buffet breakfast (relatively basic though: bread & jam, pastries, corn flakes, tea, coffee and non natural fruit juice) in a very pleasant varanda bathed in sun. The hotel has free internet. Our bathroom was a little dated. I would rate it as a superior 3 star rather than a 4 star. Overall I thought it was an extremely pleasant hotel for a very low price.

Very nice welcomking people - extrememly good value - good location for walking in and out of Funchal (less than mile to centre and lots of buses.) Family run

Good hotel for the price. One of owners at reception was very helpful and friendly. wasn't the cleanest hotel I've stayed in, well I mean the bathroom. Away from noisy hotel area but close enough to the restaurants and the centre. Easy to get local transport to centre or out and about. Would definately use again.
