Loved the under floor heating it was so nice to put my feet on a warm floor and it kept the whole room cosy . Was dissappointed on arrival to find that the fridge had not been turned on and there was no milk for coffee etc . Had to go out at 10.30pm to try and find somewhere to buy milk , not good in a city where you do not know your way around . Overall though i would recommend this motel though . 2km from city centre bit of a walk down hill , but the exercise did me good .
The motel is in a quiet street with great views over the harbour from the external stairs. As it is in a hilly area it is not easy to walk in and out of the city. The rooms are large and clean, but the furnishings are old and probably hold a fair amount of dust. Our mattress was saggy and should be replaced. The staff are friendly and helpful. The Mayfair has old-fashioned charm but I would say it is time for refurbishment.

The room is very clean, with a beautifully styled decoration. Location is a little bit off city center and up on a hill, but not a problem if you are driving. But a 4WD would be better as the angle is sth like 45 degrees...
What a great place to stay. Location was so convenient, just minutes from the CBD and surrounds. Beautiful view over Hobart. Staff helpful in all aspects, nothing too hard for them. Thoroughly enjoyable.
Quaint motel . Easy to get to city centre and Sandy bay from its location .Good price with hotel club . Has comfortable armchairs and bed in room . We have stayed here on four occasions now as I have to travel to hobart regularly for Doctors visit and we make a short holiday out of my visit .
Very friendly and helpful staff. The room was clean, comfortable and roomy. Lovely surroundings. Would definitely stay there again, and recommend to others.
Service was very good, good sized room, great location halway between city and north hobart. Only suggestion is better heating
Homely style but comforatable; bed was great. Quiet area, but a bit difficult to get to. Room was overheated, set on 27deg....must have been been done by a Queenslander! Staff friendly and helpful; breakfast arrived right on time. Would happily stay again
Great Stay - would recommend this Motel
Good hotel overall.
When you travel in Tasmania you should never expect too much. In this light this motel is excellent. Very clean and the bathroom has been done up and are spotless. The decor in the room is dated but very well kept. Quiet, spacious and handy to the city if you have a car, not very far at all. Good value for under $100.
great place to stay..lovely old style huge room we had..
Lovely and charming place, rooms spacious and comfortable, lovely outlook and location for us what we wanted in quiet location. very enjoyable stay.
the room is so spacious and near to city center
We enjoyed our stay at this very historic hotel/motel looking over hobart. It was a lovely apartment as there were three of us and everything was very comfortable. We would be very happy to stay here again
Friendly experience in great accommodation. This was our second stay here and we will stay here again on our next visit.
A little dated and the furnishing very 70's but clean and the facilities were good. I would stay there again.
The greeting provided by Jenny(?) on arrival was as good as any we have received.Nothing was to much trouble including changing our room from upstairs to one on the lower level.Thank you very much.We will have no trouble in recommending your motel to our friends and we hope we will see you again in the not to distant future.
This was a place that was very clean and homey, Its old time feel makes it worth the money. With art work on every cornor its something where you would rather take pictures as it gives you a feel of the old time meets today. the staff was very friendy and very very helpful in all things. I highly recommend this hotel for couples its quiet and overlooks the city and ocean as you look out over the balcony. The night lights of the city makes this place a very romantic place to spend with your loved ones.
The views were majic, the facilities really goog. The problem was the "noisy" neighbours. But MAyfair on Cavell was a really pleasant, claen and warm place to stay. Uphill from Hobart but close to central city
