The staff were very friendly and spoke good english. We were able to arrange a room transfer so that we could over look the beach. The breakfast was amazing an they had a good variety. Overall a great hotel and I would definitely be staying there again.
A fine colonial hotel with modern rooms and facilities and an interesting history. Definitely to be recommended
One of the most amazing features of the room is the large private balcony and its hypnotic view of the Ocean. All the rooms in the Bay Wing are carpeted and equipped with modern furniture. A mini bar, satellite television in the bedroom and a large bathroom with bathtub add to the comfort of the premises.
A lovely old hotel which badly needs refurbishing of rooms & bathrooms, which are distinctly grungy. Food very good, service usually very good. A 2 hour drive from airport which is not clear on website.
Great views from the restaurant/bar/pool. Great range of breakfast offerings everyday. Staff were very friendly and courteous - could not fault the service.
Stayed here as its somewhere ive always wanted to stay, you can get better facilities at a better place so you are really paying for teh grandeur and history. The hotel seems to concentrate on weddings, parties and functions so at times the service was slow but the staff were generally polite and helpful. A fantastic experience all round - the railway station adjacent is an added bonus as you can use the service easily and cheaply to get in to Colombo or down to Galle
this was my second visit, excellent hotel to relax from your busy life. best staff , good service and best food specialy the breakfast buffet and sea food restaurant at the beach side.
Fish restaurant is excellent - very fresh and well rpesented and price is reasonable
We frequently stay in central Colombo on business so went to the Mount Lavinia for a weekend. The room was lovely with a clear view of the sea. We ate 'on the beach' at the seafood restaurant and the food was excellent and the setting superb. Will go back again for sure.
