Ideal for seeing London right near Paddington Station. We were told bar was 24 hour so returned for night cap only offered tea or coffee. This hotel included breakfast but very minimal continental. but for the cost clean basic ok
Perhaps a little better than last time I stayed here, but they still serve watery orange squash in the place of real orange juice for breakfast.
The Nayland is conveniently situated near to Paddington Station, being less than 10 minutes away by foot. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the rooms clean and very well maintained. We have stayed there on several occasions recently and will certainly stay there next time we are in London.
Rooms are small and those overlooking Sussex Gardens are very noisy.
Excellent location. Around the corner from the hotel are plenty of eating places from fast food, to pubs, cafes and restaurants. Very close to bus stops including the stop for the double deck sightseeing bus. Two minutes walk to the tube station for the Circle, District and Bakerloo line. It is also the station for the Heathrow express (only 15 to 20 minutes to the airport). Only a few minutes walk to Hyde Park. Have stayed here before and will stay here again.
One of the numerous hotels near the Paddington train station. I opted for a double room which was offered at the same rate as singles in the hope to gain a bit more space. It worked, the room size was relatively OK (for London and this type of cheap accommodation). It was also acceptably clean, including the bathroom but not the bed cover which was rather old and slightly oily; the room was quite. I stayed only for one night and departed early in the morning before breakfast was served (starting from 7 am) and therefore could not check the food. The overall impression about the hotel is OK for the price yet was unpleasantly surprised that the wireless Internet was not free - eventually I used a nearby Internet cafe for very little.
Stayed in room 610. Room was in the basement of hotel. Window faced the breakfast lounge so I had to keep my curtains closed to have privacy. Breakfast lounge was small and crammed. Very little variety of food. Bed was uncomfortable and got two single instead of a double as requested. Receptionist was very helpful.
Stayed at a number of hotels in the Sussex Gardens and would rate this as the best so far. Very clean. Room small but as they all are in these converted town houses. Only criticism would be that they serve orange cordial for breakfast. Orange juice would be far better. Would stay there again
Excellent location and only a 2 minute walk from Paddington station which is great for people using the Heathrow express and for those wanting to use the tube. Hotel staff very helpful and provided a welcome pack including a map of the area, a tube map and a list of the bus numbers. The hop on hop off bus is located a minute away, just around the corner. Great location which has plenty of pubs, internet cafes, take aways, shops and a post office - all only a couple of minutes walk away. Paddington Station also has a couple of supermarkets. Hyde Park is less than a five minute walk. Room size was okay compared to other hotels in the same area. Luggage is stored in a hotel a few doors away. Breakfast was basic but good. Would stay here again and recommend to others.
Very central position, we walked from Paddington Stn. Restaurants, pubs & shops all very close. Staff had some difficulty understanding English but were exceptionally helpful. Room & bathroom was spotless although the room size was really small compared to other small hotels of the same price range in Rome & Paris. Breakfast was basic but plentiful. We would definately stay there again. It was a great choice for 2 people wanting to see London & be money smart!
Second or third time here. Still small and still nice. Internet isn't free anymore :(
A pleasant inexpensive hotel that has been refurbished. I do wish they would serve real orange juice at breakfast instead of very weak squash! It is not so attractive to car travellers because it is now in the London congestion charging area @ £8 per day! As a regular traveller to London I was chosing the Paddington area because it was within in stiking distance for the city and used to be outside the 'Con' area. Will now sadly have to go and stay further west.
Bedding configuration is not as advertised, otherwise a nice hotel in a good central location in london
The hotel room was fairly spacious and was clean, if a little dated looking. Service was reasonably friendly. Location good. Breakfast was average.
It was a good choice. London is not cheap but if compared with other hotels, this one is excellent value. I booked a double room and it was spacious enough. It seems all these hotels suffer from smoke smell seeping through somewhere, just live with it. Some nice diners just around the corner.
Small but adequate room & bathroom. Very good location for tube & buses to Oxford Street & Trafalgar Square. Breakfast not great.
Newly refurbished - and very clean. Excellent value for money. As a frequent business visitor to London I will use it again.
Nicely refurbished hotel. Only lack of facility was the lack of a remote for the TV and no emergency facility (a stick to poke the buttons from the bed) still it gave me more excercise. Breakfast was Ok but the watered down orange squash was a disappointment. Parking outside the hotel was handy but be carefull of the birds in the trees. The car was drenched in bird droppings the following morning!
A very compact room, I couldn't quite believe there was an en-suite attached since it looked like a cupboard door but everything was there. Exceptionally clean and great location, nice and quiet. Only very minor drawback was no tea or coffee facilities in the room. Basic breakfast but perfect for my needs at an excellent price.
A more modernized basic hotel in London which is nice. No lumpy bed or old bathroom. Small and basic but staff were friendly and it was clean and comfortable and at a good price.
