This hotel locate 10 min from the Bund. and walking distance to a factory outlet shopping mall (SHE BU LU), specialized for clothing.nice and cheap breakfast. overall we are very satisfied, unless for the terrible heater in the room. we visit shanghai in February, which are winter in that time. we are extremely cold , because we are come from Indonesia, never experiencing the weather less than 20 Celsius.
The hotel was quite clean and close to good shopping for clothes and had great access to the subway which was only a five minute walk. However, it seems that the hotel supports the local working girls, as on several occasions I saw staff and pimps sharing a smoke in the front lobby. Also, be wary of touts outside the entrance harassing you to take you shopping at the clothes stores.
We stayed for a week and found it very clean and the staff helpful. It was close to buses, trains and taxis and a short walk to the Bund and markets.
Its in a very good location but the hotel is a little old.Needs refurbish and worst part our room have no aircond. Can't open the windows cause traffic is very heavy and very noisy. If can rectify the problems stated We will definately consider staying at this hotel again.
Rooms were clean and cleaning staff helpful and nice. Beds are hard as are most in Shanghai. Breakfast was cheap-48 Yuen and mainly for the Chinese people-not much Western food. Taxis available at the front door and it's not far to Nanjing Road and People's Square. There is also a Metro stop (Tiantong Road) quite close and the Metro is easy to navigate and very cheap to use-signs in English as well as Chinese but you need to purchase a card. There is a Mini Mart (like a Seven 11 Store) close as well to purchase water as this is not supplied by the hotel. Drinks from the bar are a similar price to Sydney prices.
Old, worn out building, surprisingly neat rooms, not very friendly front-desk (except perhaps for trainees, who were there to short to learn the rude and bureaucratic attitude); but of course, this was merely a 3-star hotel - don't get fooled by the price you pay!
Our room is a "Showroom" and the hotel will start renovating after the World Expo ends, as we were being told. It is therefore new and everything works though the room has only 1 foreign (German) channel among many Chinese channels. Location is VERY good if you know your way round shopping and eating - Metro is less than 10 mins' walk. Taxi will cost abt 185 RMB from Pudong (Terminal 2) and it takes abt 50mins. woth smooth traffic.
It's seen better days, but some parts and rooms are being refurbished. a bit of a "customer-is-never-right" attitude. Carefull when booking, a "double" does not mean double bed - it's two singles!
The hotel was very clean and the room was of a great size, very comfortable. Nice location just away from the hustle and bustle of The Bund, but close enough to walk.
The hotel is very clean, and it's also very close to the bund and just 5 minutes walk to the shopping area (NanJing Road). The staffs were also very helpful and they are able to speak perfect english. For the price that i paid, it is really worth a stay, except that the bed was a little hard and uncomfortable. Overall, i would rate it 4 stars out of 5.
I stayed last minute at the New Asia Hotel and was expecting it to be rather a poor hotel as the price per night seemed to indicate this. Having visited Shanghai on many occasions i would recommend the hotel as the location is superb for the central area, is cheap and clean. If i were to travel with family i would upgrade to one of the more expensive rooms (28.00 GDP)! but if visiting on my own keep to the cheaper rooms, as men tend to do! Tip; Take some tea or coffee (milk added) only green tea is provided in the room. There is a general grocery store around the corner (out of hotel, turn right, and second right). Taxi fare to Pu Dong airport approximately Y250 and takes 30-45 mins. Maglev approximately 15 mins by taxi and Y60-70. Central area and Peoples Square...10 minutes walking distance. Drinks in hotel lounge rather expensive @ Y350 per bottle of Budweiser. Also, as usual in hotels, the convinience store located in the lobby quite expensive (grocers around corner)?
location wise, ok.. the food in their restaurant is palatable and cheap.bedsheets are not too clean.
Good location however standard rooms are small. Would be good to be able to have option to include breakfast as part of room rate
A good location in the older part of Shanghai, close to the Bund, a short walk to Nanjing Road and the river. Surrounding streets pretty ordinary but we felt safe and found it an interesting area. Make sure you have room high up as the traffic noise was awful and we moved to the 7th floor. Room was EXCELLENT. Breakfasts were excellent, western style and huge. Evening meals I would not recommend and they close very early. There was only the one restuarant to choose from which was disappointing. Problems with English speaking staff in the restuarant both at breakfast and evening meals. Ask for non smoking section in hotel if you don't like the smell. Some of the airconditioning is very musty. Many westerners stay there.
Even though the size of the room was very small, the room itself was almost worthy of a 4.5 star rating. Location is not excellent, but it is only a ten min walk to Najing Rd and the Bund. Overall very impressed.
Not a bad place to stay, but also not the best value either. It's best attribute is that it is affordable and near the bund. Avoid using the room internet if possible. We were definitely overcharged for its use and there is no way to refute the charges.
This was a good hotel that was reasonably priced. It was in the middle of town and only a short walk to Nanjing Road. If travelling now you may find roadworks on Henan Road, which may cause you to get lost if you divert. I suggest you pick up a map from the airport. The service and facilities of this hotel were good; and the staff speak English. Good for the business traveller or an overnight stay. Beware of dodgy taxi drivers bringing you from the airport. I was charged Y350 to travel from Pudong to the Hotel; it should only cost Y150 (about $20 USD). Not many taxi drivers speak English, so you may want to use the Chinese name of the Hotel: Xin A'zhou Fandian. No complaints about the hotel.
This hotel is a bit tired but is good value for money and is in a good location and easy walking to most things one wants to see. I would stay there again
Was only a few minutes walk from The Bund and Nanjuing Road. Room wasn't that great as the bed was really hard and the room very small. Good location and friendly staff.
The staff at the front desk were extremely helpful in giving directions and writing adresses in Chinese characters for the taxi drivers. Great Service.
