New Century Hotel Suzhou

Good location with good selection of shops/resturants nearby. Short taxi ride to centre of city and short ride (or even walk on a nice day) to West Garden or Garden to Linger in. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was spacious with good facilities but decor was a bit old/tatty. Bed was rock hard but as I only stayed for 1 night it didn't bother me too much. Western breakfast was pretty good and the cup of tea at breakfast (UK style) was just like back home (best I have had outsside of UK). This hotel is ok for a short stay but for 3 days or more I would opt for something a little better.

I stayed here for 3 nights in April 11 and I found this hotel a very good value for money. And you get fast internet connection for free. The location is great. It's only RMB10 ride form the train station by taxi. And you can go to the Suzhou city center by taxi for the same price and to the bus station which connects you to all the scenic places such as Tong Li etc for RMB15. The front desk hotel staff and assistant manager(?) were most helpful .They arranged for a limo to take me to shanghai which is about 1.5-2 hr drive away for RMB 350 (the usual shanghai 5 star hotel limo to Pudong airport cost more!). If you walk out of the hotel (car park side) turn right and follow the stalls you'll arrive at '7 mile Shantang walk' .It's especially magical at night with the narrow alleys full of shops lighted with red lenterns. There's a good muslim restaurant just 10 mins walk from the hotel which is a real plus too.

Breakfast is too local. Close to walking street with local people and life. Getting taxi in the morning takes time.

A colorless, characterless, huge building in the middle of an immense construction-field. A good restaurant with waiters who seem not to have a clue about any European language (in fact, in any other than Mandarin)
