This was a perfect stay for us. We stayed in a King Ensuite room which overlooked the back courtyard. The room was clean, very hotel-like. The bed was comfortable, although another blanket would have been appreciated. The bathroom was fine, no complaints there! The location was the best part - a ten minute walk from the Skybus at Southern Cross Terminal, a three minute walk from the nearest City Circle tram stop AND the Queen Victoria Markets and only ten or fifteen minute stroll to Flinders Street. We loved the location and walked everywhere as often as we could. There are lots of little places nearby for coffee and breakfast if you don't want to go too far from the hostel. Yes, it is a hostel so it comes with the standard hostel features (namely, backpackers!). Having said this, we hardly saw other patrons and only occasionally heard them outside in the courtyard. Shutting the window shut out most of the noise :) They hold onto your luggage before you check in/after you check out. They have other facilities too which we didn't use but I noticed, such as internet access, a kitchenette, a bar.etc. It was super easy to check in and check out and we felt safe and secure throughout our stay. If you are looking for a fairly priced, short-stay room in Melbourne I can definitely recommend Nomads.
I found the staff very friendly and helpfully. I would recommend the Nomad Hostel to anyone. Thank you for all your help, I will be staying there again.
tv broken, remote missing, loud people partying in next room, view from window blocked by noisy pipes
I have now stayed here twice and will stay again when I need to. Ihave friends in Melbourne & some times stay with them if I visit on my own. I have told everyone that has asked me about where to stay in Melbourne and have told them to look you up.
The room was clean and tidy. The beds were ok, but 'squeeked' alot and woke everyone up during the night. The toilet door (private ensuite) did not close/stay shut. The service provided by staff was average, but it is understandable that they were mostly backpackers themselves and needed more time to complete tasks.
When booking I didnt realise it was a Backpackers Hostel as we thought with our own onsuite it would be like a hotel We enjoyed our stay
We booked a room for 2 adults and 1 child and only got 2 towels in the bathroom for a 3 night stay. Other than that the room and hotel was worth the money.
Bathrooms not cleaned enough. Overall a good backpackers though.
No air conditioning makes the higer levels suffer a bit with the heat, coupled with the lift out of service at least once a day. The King room size is aweseome, and could do with some extra furniture. On the whole, for a weekender, the hotel is very enjoyable.
We stayed in the King ensuite room. The room, while extremely basic was quite large, and the bathroom was clean and modern. Location was very good, with easy access to Queen Victoria market and not too far to the CBD. Convenience store/liquor shop is just down the street. There is a bar inside Nomads, which is good as the immediate surroundings of the hotel there isnt anywhere to drink, grab a coffee etc. Overall its not a bad place to stay for the price
Basic but very clean accommodation. Friendly efficient staff.
Excellent service. Sometimes had to wait at desk for 10+ minutes for help, but otherwise the help was brilliant and the staff were always friendly. Great location, great and friendly staff, other guests were lovely. Brilliant atmosphere. Have recommended the Sydney hotel to friends who will be staying here soon, and will definitely stay with Nomads next time I'm in Melbourne.
You pay for what you get! we stayed in a single room, it was basic but clean! Andi would stay there again, why blow $200 a night when you can blow $80 and have a better time in the city!
I booked a twin room and was put in a dorm room that had not been cleaned. Promotional materials gave no ondication that there were no tea/coffee facilities or tv in room. Alcohol in rooms is also forbidden and I felt that this should have been explained on the web site. These factors reduced the value I got from the dicounted accomodation, especially since I had to buy disinfectant and cleaners to fix the room. Free meal deal is good for travellers.
Instead of the single double bunk bed, preference should be for two single beds or one double and one single bed (if space permits). The bathroom is simply too large, even for a wheel-chair friendly design and too much precious space is wasted there.
I had my own room and ensuite and it was clean and easily accessed.pretty good value.
I liked the fact that they gave you a free meal at night :-D Thought that was nice
