Quiet, reasonable breakfast. Good for the tourists
the room was fine by French standards. The hotel upgraded us to a large room. We were just fine, but many Americans would not be happy. The hotel is one block from the Louvre, as central as you can get. I would recommend to someone who was well traveled
Let me start off by saying that the location is prime and that is probably why the price is so much for what you get. I have lived and often travel to Paris but for the price and amenities I was not impressed and would choose elsewhere if the price was + or - 100$ or so. My first room was very sub par and I requested a change of room and the second room was much better if nothing but standard. I have stayed at other 4 star hotels and all but 1 (not including this one) had free wifi included. The rooms where also not equipped very well and had the bare minimum of towels, cups, toilet products, etc. The staff was just average...all other hotels I have stayed at (Hotel Castiglione for example) had much better service and better staff attitudes.
Very generous (for Paris) sized room. Good breakfast.
good sized room, great eateries around.Over road italian restaurant to KILL for.Great meals top service. Hotel 50 mtrs to Louvre &souvenier shops.Would stay here any time.
The location of this hotel is fantastic, really close to the Louvre. The hotel itself has been updated downstairs and looks impressive. Our room, which was a superior double, was not as impressive, and as other reviewers have said needs a lick of paint and general updating. That said, it was large with a separate bathroom with bath and shower. Being an inward facing room there wasn't any view, but we weren't expecting that. It might be quite hot in summer as there isn't any air conditioning, but for winter time it was warm and cosy. Overall, it was a really comfortable room, the only downside for us English folks was the lack of any tea making facilities and having being stung 14 euros for two small beers on the first night in the bar we found ourselves running across the road to Starbucks and down to Macdonalds for takeaway tea. In fact getting takeout croissants from Paul's the really good chain cakeshop as well made for a tasty cheap breakfast!
Location excellent; Pricing for Paris and, given that it is a stones throw from the Louvre, acceptable; would stay there again though all in all hotel is for Australian standards a 3-star at best.
Don't believe the all the rubbish you read in the reviews of this hotel. Yes, it is old, and it needs modernisation, BUT that is not what Paris is all about. If you want character, a brilliant location, helpful staff and a flavour of this wonderful city you should stay here. As nearly everything in Paris is expensive, then the rate is not out of line. As a professional Tour Guide I am used to all sorts of hotels and I would be happy to stay here. It should not be 4star, but its the location, on the Rue Rivoli, across from the Louvre, with plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby that sells it. Even a MacDonalds and Starbucks within 50 yards.Do not go to Paris if all you can do is moan about peeling paint, uninterested staff, crowds, noise and heat. Go in the winter instead, you will appreciate the warmth of the bedrooms, as we did. Within 48 hours, my wife and I, managed to cover everything we wanted from this location. Our room was large as was the bathroom, and everything worked.
For the price it was an excellent hotel for us! Its a tad old and isn't shiny new but everything else was perfect. The location made holidaying in Paris so easy.
A great value-for-money choice. The hotel has perfect location and offers very good facilities for its pricing range.
You can find flaws if you search (peeling paint in place, etc.) but overall very comfortable and clean. A large bathroom with dressing table to provide extra surface space, plenty of hot water, comfortable beds, and everyone at the desk was very helpful and friendly. And the location is great! We were however, surprised to find that the breakfast, which we thought was included, wasn't--in other hotels in Paris where we have stayed in the past, breakfast was always included, and should have been here, too, in my opinion. But overall we liked it very much and would stay there again.
The room was small but no smaller than what we were expecting. Everything worked and was very clean. The staff were very helpful whenever we had any queries. The lift was surprisingly small and this would be the only point that may cause some concern - but this proved to be the norm for all of our European stay.
Only achieves 4 star rating thanks to its prestigious location. Otherwise this hotel is extremely shabby and rather sad. However, if you accept that French hotels can be an extremely variable affair you can afford to look on it kindly as "shabby chic" and, quintessentially, French.
This hotel is heavily critisized at i.e. Tripadvisor. However, it is a quite good hotel - not fancy or very exclusive, but it is really a good stay to in Paris, especially according to price and location.
A former glamour hotel that requests a full renovation ...
The location of the hotel is excellent, just across Louvre and an easy location to reach the city highlights. It is an old hotel and the service is not good. Check a couple of times with the staff when you need a booking (e.g.taxi) or smth similar.
The hotel has seen better days. The deco was not only dated but filthy too. The staff seem aloof, like they have given up and just accept that this hotel is a sinking ship. The concierge provided us with no service so I'm unsure of his duties other than smoking outside the front entrance. I feel badly for the staff having to work in such an environment. It should be noted that we did have plenty of hot water and the buffet breakfast was quite a bargain for 12 euros. I would advise all, do not stay at this hotel.
Had a mouldy bathroom with the walls actually falling apart! They have obviously spend all their budget on the foyer! Breakfast was pretty ordinary! Great location, but there were lots of other places around it!
Excellent hotel! Enjoyed our stay and the staff. Would be perfect if they had wireless in the room.
Good location, room very basic, staff helpful.
