North Star Hotel Dublin (The) Guest Reviews

4 out of 5

We stayed in one of the Premier Rooms for 7 days and it was great. The Premier Lounge offered practically every beverage and spectacular views not to mention comfortable lounge chairs. The rooms were very modern and up to date. The king sized bed was a pillow top, great for getting some rest after a long day. The hotel is within walking distance to O'Connell St (10min max) the concierge was very helpful and willing to bend over backwards. The only downside is paying for the internet every day which was 11euros for 24hrs.

4 out of 5

It was at a good location not too far from the bus terminal to/from the airport. Rooms are outdated but pretty standard one from 1970's design. As long as it works, fine. Internet is not free and a bit slow though.

Nice clean hotel with friendly staff. 15 mins walk to Temple Bar. Handy for main train and bus station. Only problem is the rail line runs along the side of the building and a main road on the other. Despite having double glazing, it was noisey at times.

Good location, although north dublin can be a little run down. 15 mins to grafton st walking though. The problem was the facilities, the wifi was "down" which is not great for a working trip. Also, the TV was tiny and there was no remote. The breakfast was foul, as a veggie there was nothing but toast and tinned fruit. Pretty bad. However, reception staff and cleaning staff were lovely and helpful and the room was adequate. Sauna nice!

Excellent central location if you want to be close to night life. Noisy, but what you would expect being on a main street. Secure valet parking for 7 euros is pretty good. Perfect for my overnight stay at the end of my 5 day Irish short break. Very good value!!

The only complaint that I have to make is about the poor service at check-in.I arrived on a Saturday morning and presented my [website] check-in voucher to the receptionist.Regretfully she didn't know anything about [website] or that my bill had already been paid.I had to start and explain everything, which took about 10 minutes to sort out, before I was handed my room key. I can't complain about the room as I was given an upgrade to a 3 bedroom luxury suite,so as I was on my own I certainly had plenty of space. The room was very spacious and the bathroom was very clean. The location of the hotel is ideal for anyone arriving into Dublin by train as the hotel is just across the street.Cross over at the traffic lights and turn right. The check-in desk is not in the front reception area but up a short flight of stairs straight ahead, and its on the right. Regretfully I was unable to stay for breakfast but the hotel is recommended.Only about 10 minutes walk to the city centre.

Great hotel for the price. Rooms are a great size including the bathroom, perhaps a separate shower cubicle would have been nice but no loss really. Location was good, only a five minute walk from O'Connel street and probably 15mins from temple bar area. Would recommend the hotel restaurant; the food there was really nice at a good price.

This hotel was the cheapest out of all the 3 stars and it was great!! short walk into town, the hotel bar was great - with a brilliant smoking area. We got upgraded to a premier room for our stay and it was beautiful, we also had use of the premier guests lounge. Great staff, all very happy and polite. Would really reccomend this hotel!!

If you would like to spare some money, book room from cheap side. Minus point is, if you do that, you don't sleep. City railway goes right behind your window. Hotel is good, and location is very good. But, please remember to aski your room from other side than railway.

This hotel is off-centre but right opposite the railway station. Unfortuntaely the railway line is VERY close to some room windows and they are noisy. The area is a little seedy but fiarly conveninet to Occonnel Street. There is a good local Spar shop close to the hotel. The upgraded rooms are high quality but need maintaining better - broken shower taps, etc. Overall a medium grade hotel

Great location near the train and then to the rest of Dublin. No train noise in the room which was a relief. Early bird dinner was a plus. No lift to the reception was a bummer. Room was good and bathroom excellent. A bit annoying to find the excessive charges for wifi when "available in room" implied "free". Overall very good and we are likely to use again.

Great hotel, very welcoming. The staff is so frendly and helpful. The room we had was nice and quiet. We had dinner in the night we arrived, the meal was just fantastic. We will always come back here.

The railway is somewhat intrusive in room 201, but it is tolerable, however, the bath access is dangerous, hand rails required and non slip facility in bath, the bed is unacceptably noisy on the window side, it sounds as if some of the wooden frame has fractured, most irritating when trying to turnover or sleep when the slightest movement creaks loudly.

We stayed in the premier club king rooms. Very much worth the extra money as they are very new and very nice. Although breakfast was not included, which we were not told on check in. Were informed of breakfast times and so assumed breakfast was included. Arrived at breakfast room and were seated and served before being told to pay for breakfast at reception. If you are not issued with "breakfast passes" on arrival...you do not have breakfast included! Dont be tricked into paying £10 per person, per night for breakfast like we were!! Otherwise..no issues. Very clean, friendly staff, comfortable rooms.

The North Star Hotel was situated nicely near to the city and it gaved us good possibilites to participate many activities around the Dublin Marathon. Train and bus connections were really good for a tourist to travel all over the city. Noises of the traffic was not so bad as originally awaited.
