Novotel Hotel Canberra

Awesome location, rooms are big & the staff were great, will definately stay there again!

Watch out for the parking charge not mentioned until you get there

Had a great time in Canberra and the Novotel was great. Have no hesitation in staying there again next time.

After reading other not-so-favourable reviews I was a little apprehensive about staying at the Novotel, but it offered the best deal for our party of 2 adults and 2 kids - other hotels didn't allow more than 2 or 3 guests to a room. The room was neat and clean, the towels were thick and large - the kids loved the pool, though it was a little cool. The best part of staying at the Novotel was the proximity to the shops and restaurant area of the Canberra city area - one very short block away! I would stay there again.

Very good choice of hotel that is very close to the city. excellent food and facility.

Some mix up with the Internet connections but other than that, it is a great hotel - clean and excellent location.

Excellent location but sloppy management. Afternoon sun showed up very dirty window in the room; empty tissue boxes not replaced; drinking glass obviously just wiped and replaced as clean as it was smeared (how would you like that if you were the next guest?); tiles in the bath/shower needing grout cleaner. Newspaper ordered by friend in neighbouring room not received. Queue on the Sunday morning waiting for hot food containers to be refilled - not good enough; guests shouldn't have to point out to staff that some foods have run out. Pity, as it's a top location for eating, shopping and transport.

Excellent bed, comfortable facilities and right in the heart of town. Combined shower bath would have benefitted from a handrail or nonslip mat for anyone less agile. Good value through HotelClub deal.

Nice rooms and good location for ANU and shopping but not so good for museums. Ran out of various dishes at breakfast on Sunday morning and made mistake with booking so could improve in their efficiency somewhat.

We stayed 4 nights January 2011. Location is excellent right in the city & within walking distance of many dozens of eateries. Bus services - which were the cheapest way to get around, were less than 200 metres - both airportlink and local. We were upgraded on checkin which was great & the service, cleanliness and facilities were excellent. The room was a little bigger which was also a bonus. It was very quiet too. Definitely recommend & would stay there again.

Not bad for Canberra. Good location. Flaws= EXTREMELY dusty. The cups/mini-bar area had so much dust, it appears that they did not bother to clean it before we checked-in. Also, the cups were not washed, I'm not talking about old stains either. We got a terrible view from our room, of building roofs and rubbish bins, although we booked months in advanced. Parking is an extra $15 per night, which is a rip off, but parking is secured. A bit overpriced for the limited facilities. Staff we not super friendly. A little disappointing. Only good thing about it is the brand name and location.

A great place to stay. Staff were friendly and helpful. The only issues we had were room service taking a little long to complete a request (but to be fair it was late) and a glitch in the phone system that caused numerous false calls to our room with no one on the other end of the line. However to the hotel's credit they comped us our parking fees as a way of saying sorry for the inconvenience.

Nice clean hotel rooms. For those that like the gym it is very small and and badly configured. Sun blazes through in the morning and all the cardio equipment cops it. Unable to use the treadmill for long as its just too hot and not cool enough in the gym, only one small fan is available. Needs blinds for the hot morning sun and cardio equipment out of the sun. Until this changes gym will receive little use during the summer months.

We enjoyed our stay in Novotel Canberra. Would like to go again also would like to stay in other Novotel properties.

Very helpful staff on arrival. Rooms newly refurbished. Great location.
