Due to unfortunate flooding at the Oaks Horizon we were unable to stay there. We were booked into the Oaks Embassy instead and found that to be perfect for our overnight stay. The staff were friendly and the room was great.
Great location, modern clean room, excellent showers, BUT on our third and final night someone opened the fire hose on the 16th floor. We found this out at 1:30am after arriving home from a wedding. The staff did not have flashlights, allowed young women to walk the stairs/halls in the pitch black to pack up our rooms. No assistance was offered. We were then told to get our own taxi over to the hotel on the other side of town, the dodgy side of town. No assistance in hailing a taxi was provided. We could not get a cab at 2am, and slightly intoxicated from our wedding celebrations, in dresses and heels, carrying luggage full of wet clothes we trudged across town in the direction on the hotel (no map given). Then on arrival they were not sure they had a room for us. Overall a horrible last night, ruining our wedding celebration. Understandably it could not be controlled, but it could have been handled better with staff assisting ppl in evacuating, lending out flashlights, and ensuring everyone had a taxi to move hotels. We also could have been called when it was noted evacuation was necessary, at least 7 hours earlier than when we arrived back.
The staff were extremely welcoming, helpful and efficient (26/11-27/11) so please pass on our thanks to the people involved. The room was lovely and well appointed, but perhaps a little more milk would be handy. Only a small criticism but when you want to have a "cuppa" late at night and there's no milk left it can be a little inconvenient, however, your night shift Reception Clerk (I'm sorry if that's not his correct title) was more than helpful. We had a little trouble working out the lift system, and thankfully we weren't the only ones otherwise we would have felt terribly inept, but finally worked out the card system. Mind you it's a great way to meet people, just going up and down in the lift!!!!!!! Breakfast was enjoyable but again a little frustrating in the sense that the Aroma cafe no longer could deliver to the room due to lack of staff, however, the service was fast and efficient. Overall an enjoyable stay and we would certainly recommend the hotel.
Quiet, clean and comfortable unit.Good location and helpful staff. Booked River View room and would not hesitate to stay next time in Adelaide.
Excellent location, well appointed apartment and wonderful service! We really enjoyed our stay at Oaks Horizons.
The staff were friendly and efficient. Being a weekend-only visitor, I was hoping that the staff would assist me with my return flight on line check-in. As early as Friday morning at 11.00 am the Hotel's Internet was down, and I was informed that it would not be up again until after the weekend. I find that less than satisfactory, both from the guests' and Hotel's perspective. One of the rooms leaked from the bathroom into the adjacent bedroom, so anything on the floor got wet. Inexcusable. As a fly-in fly-out guest, I would like to see better quality tea & coffee provided. Tea-bags are fair enough, but the tea tasted a hundred years old, and rubbish to begin with. Overall, though, pretty good for the price I paid.
Well situated hotel on North Terrace. Single bedroom apartment was spacious my only complaint being that the bedroom is internal and therefore does not have natural light. The bathroom is well equipped and the shower is powerful. There is a work desk in the lounge room and a comfy couch, tables and chairs and open plan kitchen with decent equipment - including a tea pot which I appreciated. There is a good indoor lap pool about 20m and the gym has quite a few machines. There didn't seem to be enough reception staff as I waited for at least 10 mins each time I called or went to reception. There was an unusual water leak in the corridor of my apartment coming from the common wall. It started the night before I checked out and was insignificant but by morning the carpet was sodden. I reported it and maintenance was investigating after I left.
I'd say the ONLY bad thing about Oak's Horizon was the confusing movie box!!! However, when we needed help with it, the staff were more than happy to assist! The room was great - very clean, very spacious and modern. It was nice to have a balcony and a spa bath, a large bed and a spacious living area! The hotel itself was also very nice with extremely modern lifts and swipe cards instead of keys. The staff were very nice and friendly - making it a much more comfortable stay. The location was great, with heaps of places to eat right around the corner!
enjoyed staying at the oaks horizan, the apartment was very spacious and location was very convenient to the convention centre.
Great location for the Convention Centre, and central shops. On the down side the gym equipment needed attention quite badly, and no towels provided. The appts only have 1 towel per person, so too bad if you used it for the gym. I also booked 2 river view rooms. When I arrived, the only view was a building. After querying this at reception, I was able to be relocated to another appt, however my colleague was not so lucky, and no reimbursement or voucher was offered to compensate. The staff were friendly and helpful.
We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment and whole family enjoyed very much. Friendly staff, specially Jack who was at the front desk was very helpful and efficient. Excellent location and very handy for many attactions.
We were given a free upgrade which delighted us. However, the spa didn't work and no maintenance personnel available on weekends. Also no bath gel or shower cap on offer from hotel although all other items such shampoo, conditioner etc. were available. Room was clean and tidy and I have to say I was impressed by the shower which was hot and good pressure. No worrying about water temperature if someone in another room was running a tap. Lovely cafe adjacent which offered a huge breakfast which set us up for the day and snacks also available. Trams run right out the front and a taxi rank opposite so transport taken care of. Would stay here again and recommend to others.
Very central location; with just a hop, skip and jump to both Adelaide Railway Station and the Glenelg Tram. Spacious rooms which are soundproofed from excessive noise. Lovely balconies looking over The Adelaide Oval, and with the balcony door closed, street noise could not be heard. Beware: my microwave was located in its own cupboard, above the full size fridge. Not very handy if one is short and/or heating something large or heavy. Additionally, bath spa within the apartment was disconnected from the power; however this was made up by going the in-house pool facilities where a four person heated spa is available. Water in the lap pool could have been slighty hoter but still usable. Will stay again and highly recommend.
very good alwys coming back to the oaks
Restuarant charge back to room is a great feature.
Compared to previous stays, this place has really picked up its game. Staff were friendly, efficient and very very helpful. Apartments are well equipped and the charge back facility to a couple of local restuarants is a great addition.
Were very happy with the hotel room, however the parking prices were outrageous. And they only have a limited amount of spots so if you don't book ahead you may be out of luck.
Had a great stay. Service was great and so was the room
This hotel, like most, are very good until something goes wrong, and that is the case with the Horizons! In this case it was the washing machine/dryer. Staff reaction to my problem machine was very poor, with no real solution being available over a twelve hour period of the problem being suffered. Otherwise, all was good, apart from the room carpet and furniture looking tired but was serviceable. The Aroma Cafe adjoining the hotel was a very good venue for meals and coffee etc. I would chance it again, but would ensure the washer/dryer were working before unpacking!
Clean and spacious. In good location , close to everything in Adelaide,Casino across the road and tram stop. Railway and buses. Self contained, so ideal for longer stays
