Staff were polite and friendly and the breakfast was great. The bar area was also good and both had great views and atmosphere. The location is perfect for arriving from airport airlink as well as all you want to do in Edinburgh. Room was nice and a good size and I would definitely choose to stay here again.
Unfortunately the one lift was broken for a short amount of time otherwise this would have be a fantastic break.
Wonderful breakfast & great view of Princes St + Scot monument.
loved this old hotel. has a lot of character. breakfast was fantastic, had everything even haggis. will be back again
Apart from the long climb up stairs to reception with luggage, the welcome from reception (from a Hungarian Lass!) made up for the oncoming physical heart attack. The room allocated was typically British, in that it was of the least space possible to comply with a hotel room without having any space! The facilities were good, and the hotel was in the centre of the city. The breakfast supplied was more than satisfactory, and staff were courteous, apart from the fact that I couldn't pay cash (a credit card was the only acceptable 'legal tender')for a "nightcap" at the bar. Location, cleanliness and breaky were a good plus.
third time I have stayed there and look forward to the next time I would'nt stay anywhere else if I am in Edinburgh its a home from home!
The triple room was very comfortable, a good size and very clean. I would stay again and recommend this hotel to friends.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Old Waverley Hotel. Great location and very comfortable. Will definitely be rebooking.
comfortable stay
Hotel in good location, within 5 min. walk from station and easy to walk to all touristy attractions. Plenty of restaurants and pubs nearby as well as many shops. Clean with reasonable sized room and bathroom. Staff friendly. Only downside a little noisy as room was on 1st floor level nr a level crossing.
Good value for money hotel
we enjoyed our stay very much, but there wasnt much to do come the evening.
Excellent position for shopping and sightseeing.
very central good prices food good staff really friendly - they seem mostly Polish so keeping them with sterlings slide against the zloty will be a problem
Could not be beaten on location. Room was small but adequate. Toiletries provided are not good quality. Bed small and not very comfortable. Breakfast O.K. and all areas clean. Staff friendly and helpful
Excellent location very clean and the staff were very friendly and most helpful.
Friendly, helpfull staff. Bedroom nicely decorated, but small. Breakfast very good, with good selection and pleasant dining room with views of Edinburgh Castle and Princes Street. Excellent location with easy access to transport and shops.
This trip was for grans 80th. It was in such a good location for everything. The staff hadn't been informed of the request we had made for a particular room and tried very hard to remedy this. All areas were always clean and porter always available to help with bags up and down the few tricky stairs to get to reception. Would return to this hotel again.
We spent 2 nights in this hotel - the location is great, right on the door step of all main attractions of Edinburgh. The staff were great and the breakfast was nice. Will definetely use this hotel again!
All the staff were lovely. Room okay, view terrible, frosted glass in the window cos beyond that was loads of old cables & a fire escape! Breakfast good. Best room service sandwich I've had and the absolute worst martini!
