This is a great place to stay if you have kids. The rooms are nice, the food is ok, but the staff really make this a special place to stay, they are very friendly. The pool is great, lots of activities to do, the beach is ok for a walk but not really for swimming. Unfortunately from what we heard by talking to the the locals, the Outrigger staff do not get paid very much. The resort is Australian owned, and all profits go back to Australia, the staff get about $2-3 Fijian per hour, depending on where they work. Considering that you pay western prices for the accommodation, food and all the services this is pretty outrageous. So in short, if you have kids and the above doesn't bother you, go stay there, you'll love it. If not, find somewhere else. We also stayed at Treasure Island resort which is 50% owned by the Fijian villagers who own the island, so at least some money stays in the country.
For anyone looking for a family holiday, this is an ideal hotel/resort and the staff were excellent in taking care of everyone's needs. We wanted to just chill and relax completely and we did just that and had very attentive waiter service by the pool. Definitely recommend this hotel/bures etc.
The rooms are very stylish and modern. They are also large and well designed, with comfortable beds and all the modern conveniences you could want. The resort itself is set in lovely garden surrounds. The pool is a little small. For a fieve star resort the service was very average, and I expected better.
Meals and drinks I believe were on the high side re pricing. They were of a high quality though.
I could not fault the outrigger it was great and the staff were so very friendly. However the lagoon was a real dissappointment. I thought it was quite a way from Nadi. The staff need to be paid more money for their services, they do such a good job for such little pay
