Could not fault this hotel. Staff were excellent and the room was spacious and comfortable. Location also excellent. Many times in Shanghai and will stay at this one again without any hesitation.
The hotel is located right across the street from Peoples' Square and the subway stop. The subway is very convenient because the number 2 line takes you straight to and from the airport (You do have to get off the train at one stop and walk across the platform before 10). It is really convenient for food and shopping. There are places to shop and eat all over the place. There is a tour bus right across the street. I liked the staff which spoke english. If you want internet access, bring a computer to hook up in the room. Otherwise, you have to go to the business center in the lobby for an additional charge. The room was small, but I really like old hotels. It had a kind size bed, nice linens, wood paneled walls.

Clean comfortable hotel at great location overlooking people's square and right next to metro. Beautiful historic building. Close to great bars, especially Barbarossa, which is inside peoples square. Also convenient base for exploring the bund, Nanjing Lu, xintiandi and tianzifang. Only negative is the staffs english is not fluent and concierge desk not great about giving recommendations on what to do.
An older style hotel with lots of character. Fabulous location opposite People's Square
The Pacific Hotel Shanghai is rather average, although location is very good. It has all the facilities required but don't expect any great quality. What is bad is the Internet - it is so slow that I could not connect to my e-mail so I switched it off after 10 minutes usage, but they still charged me for 24 hours even if the note in the room says 1 yuan per minute. Also you can hear guests in next rooms and the basin was blocked.
This is a very old hotel and rather worn out. If you are budget tight, you will not mind all these. For the price they charge, it's good enough for me. I only stayed at their standard double room so I assume if you stay at their higher priced room, the interior will be better.
This hotel's breakfast is real bad! It wasn't part of the room rent...but don't eat there! I did because I had people coming there for a meeting. Rooms are tight and small. Locationwise is very good...5 minute walk to the subway and famous Nanjing Road.
This hotel has seen better days and exhudes a feeling of faded glories. It has a great location and very close to the shops and the Park and metro station. Service within the hotel, particularly the bar was slow and overpriced. The rooms were clean and reasonably furnished.
Pacific Hotel, Shanghai great location. Service and cleanliness dreadful. Could not recommend it.
