Follow the road until the end of the shops and then come across the crossroad at the bottom (Waratah Street) and you will find us 3 buildings down from the crossroad on the left. For travel by train take the train from Sydney Central and alight at Katoomba. Here you can either walk down the main street to the hotel, catch a taxi or bus, both of which stop at the station.

The heating was not coping with the winter cold. No bar at teh hotel Did the restaurant even operate? A lot of money for a simple room.
The building is rather lovely and quite well renovated. The service was poor and quite odd. The proprieter was not helpful and we didnt get the room (King) we had booked and paid for. She was not appologetic but made up some strange excuse about computers not working. However we had booked well in advance and the hotel was not full. A number of things were not working - the phone in our room, no hairdryer, no mini bar despite we had paid at the rate of a 4 star hotel. In the reception rooms there were no fires although it was a very cold weekend with the temperature around 5 degrees. It was a bit like 'Fawlty towers' in the Blue Mountains. I would not recommend the hotel although the hotel is rather beautiful unless you have a good sense of humour and dont mind not getting what you paid for.

Very nice and clean hotel. Good location. I would definitely stay there again.
Wouldn't think it was a five star hotel. But we had a very pleasant stay.
very good, nice service, will stay again
A lovely well appointed heritage hotel with lots of atmosphere and fine furnishings. Reception staff seemed inexperienced and somewhat shy and often not there. Breakfast was top class for the money. Room was spacious and tastefully done, but just seemed to lack that special something. Nevertheless very good value for the money we paid.
Having read the reviews was expecting the worst. However really enjoyed our stay. Fantastic location and very impressive breakfast. Staff were courteous and very helpfull. Nice room with king size bed and full bath. Interior lounge areas tastefully decorated old style making a very relaxed atmosphere. Would have liked the resturant to be open for dinner and somewhere to get a drink. Twenty minutes in sauna and it hardly heated up. Didn't bother with the spa or in house movies. As we are more interested in bushwalking, relaxing and old world charm would definitley stay at Palais Royale again.
A friendly and quirky hotel with good facilities. Staff went out of their way to be helpful.
The room was okay, but for the price pay, I expected more. Everything was a bit dated. The TV was tiny 51cm CRT. Most hotels for this price should be having something 'digital' by now. Everything seemed a bit 'whatever'. eg they give you a dvd player that you have to plug in yourself into the tiny tv and people had to leave their key on the reception desk because there was no one there to check people out. It wasn't bad, the breakfast was great, it just needed some final touches.
No remote control in room for TV. Probably not 4.5 stars as it claims, but still reasonable. Price is attractive (had room upgraded)
Good location, price and breakfast were reasonable, there isn't a bar which was disappointing if you wanted to sit out in the lounge areas by the fire. The rooms were not serviced daily.
A lovely hotel, great location. Staff were friendly and the room was clean. Breakfast buffet was excellent but the restaurant didn't appear to open for dinner. It is missing the 'little touches'- like a bedspread and valance on the bed and the extra blanket in the cupboard was not clean. A mosiac table would be much more suited out the front rather than the plastic tables and chairs. All in all, it was a pleasant stay and we would return. Good value.
I booked online 4 days prior and arrived 3.40pm Friday 12-6-09. Told by staff member to come back as reception staff elsewhere. First night there was 1 small bar of soap in bathroom. Asked staff for more soap. This soap arrived 24 hrs later. Restaurant was advertised on hotel website extolling its qualities. Upon trying to make a booking for dinner, told by staff that restaurant was closed both days. Buffet breakfast was of good quality and plentiful. Rooms are of good size. No spoons to stir coffee/tea (had to ask and they arrived some hours later). Tissues empty on first day, not replaced. Room Service/maintenance very unprofessional and slow.
Nice room, clean, not too old. Comfortable bed. Mini bar fridge good for byo. Good spa and sauna. Service a little poor for the price you pay, but otherwise good. Hot/cold breakfast pretty decent.
We stayed here on a cold, windy night, as is common in the Blue Mountains, and found the place very comfortable. The hotel is far from a modern one, but is clean throughout, and quite stylish too. You are literally at the bottom of the Katoomba mall, which is mainly retail shops and cafe's at that end, with restaurants and pubs at the other end, which is still an easy walk. There is an indoor spa which we used last time we stayed, which was nice. Included breakfast was full hot breakfast buffet, and perfectly nice both times we've been. There is an outdoor carpark with plenty of spaces for 2+ cars. My only concern would be paying full price, as I feel it's not up to the standard of Sydney hotels charging those same high rates, but that could be more about Blue Mountains prices than this hotel, and the deal we got was good.
Beautifully redecorated and refurbished classic Blue Mountains hotel, attentively and thoughtfully run by owner Rose.
Great place to stay, well renovated and the service was wonderful. Highly recommend it and the Thai restaurant just down the road.
The Bathroom Was Dirty - I had to clean the shower basin. There was no mini bar in the room, when it said there was. No Service after 9pm ( even before 9pm, we could not find anyone ) The spa/Jacuzzi facilities were non operational when they said it's 24hours. Overall the hotel had a very creepy feeling to it. And we could not locate staff when we needed it. Location was VERY VERY good
Charming place, very friendly and welcoming service.
A great hotel in a great location. Nicely renovated yet unpretentious. Friendly and warm service. Beautiful breakfast. Excellent!
