After a long restore, during five years, an old Palace of XV century has been converted in a superb Luxury Hotel : Palazzo Gattini opening day: 28 of june 2008. The Palace was belonging to Conti Gattini, Noble’s family in Matera on IX century, for different centuries. But before XVIII century, Palazzo Gattini was also a Convent: infact one of our Junior Suite has got a Renaissance portal that it joined the Palace with a Pontiff Curia.
The architect Ettore Mocchetti made the internal design and he found to use local materials for no modify the real structure. Cream is a dominant colour in a Hotel, because it is the colour of chalky stone prevailing in Matera landscape and almost houses have been built with these type of stones. The fornitures colours going from black to cream and grey; but in every room, a splendid silk draperies, give a different colours, orange, blue and mustard green.
Palazzo Gattini has 20 luxury rooms at guest disposal.
the Hotel has also a prestigious Wine Bar situated in the old wine cellars and a very spectacular cheese room where the nobles use to sharpen the cheese, and now is become a special showcase about the typical Lucania products.
The Hotel has a restaurant as well, where you can tasted the traditional local cusine with new attention the quality of the products. The Meeting-room situated in an ancient desecrated church.
The Wellness Centre has been created in some of the oldest parts of the complex.
