Good place to stay - very comfortable and very friendly and helpful staff. The hotel fronts the beach and is directly accessible, the beach itself is wide although the surf itself is unappealing and dirty but that is the whole coastal area. It may just be the time of the year - June/July. Bars and restaurants are just a short stroll down the road and Negombo town is just a short tuk tuk ride away. Highly recommended for staying in the Negombo area.
Right on the beach front and near to restraunts & shops. Good pool & sun bathing areas but prices for soft drinks & juices were three to four times the price you could get outside.
This hotel was under complete renovations when I stayed, I was the only guest and it was quite strange. People were accommodating but if you are looking for a hotel with life, this is not it at the moment.
Sunflower is in nice beach location with great views & not far from upmarket hotels such as Brown's Beach Hotel. Service was initially poor as there were no towels in the room & I had to ask several times to get a couple. The wake-up service the next morning though was spot on. Also, as promised they had very nice packed breakfast to take with me as I had early flight before normal breakfast time. Air conditioning did not seem to work but not as great a problem as it was winter time. Pool is in beautiful setting overlooking the beach but the water could have been cleaner. All in all I think Sunflower is generally good value for the money. I would go back agin to stay.
The hotel needs maintainance work a paint job and TLC. Swimming pool needs cleaning and the concrete around has many cracks and holes. It looks run down. The room was OK with lots of mosquitos, too many holes in the roof overlooking the balcony and places for them to breed. The location is great .
If you are looking for the usual facilities you expect in a luxury hotel in the metropolis, this is not the place for you. But if you are looking for a home away from home, then you have come to the right place. I spent 4 days at this hotel in April and went back with extremely fond memories of the courteous and helpful service that you get here. Every member of the staff goes out of her or his way to make you feel comfortable. You are treated not as a hotel guest but as a guest staying at somebody's home. A bonus is the food. Delicious! Especially the sea food and the curries. A lot better, in fact, than the more pretentious places down the road.
The hotel is well located on the beach, it has a good swimming pool. The room could have been made a lot better if a mini fridge was installed, no where to keep anything cold. No TV in rooms, could be a problem if you have children with you.
