Although the single room I has was quite small, it was at the front of the hotel and I had a great seaview. The place was clean, slightly tatty is some places but for the price you cannot complain, I had breakfast and dinner which was basic but again I was satisfied. The hotel staff and in particular the receptionist were helpful and nothing was any trouble.A minor point, the hotel is completely non smoking, this should be stated in the description.Entertainment every night at the hotel next door which is free.I would stay again no problem.
excellent value, good location, great service, recommended
we made a last minute booking for the 17-08-08 for my husband and I, parking not a problem right outside. Right on the seafront. Booking in pain free, receptionist very helpful. Room small a little tired but clean, very small en-suite tired but clean. no view, frosted window opened onto flat roof but for 1 night no prob. tram and bus stops very close by. evening meal included, expected basic but was in a formal dining room with three course meal provided. service wonderful. food excellent plenty of choice and all home cooked (compliments to the chef). entertainment was available in the tiffany hotel next door but one. Went down the next morning to a full english breakfast which was again excellent. check out was again trouble free. All in all excellent value for money, would definitley stay again. the hotel is well situated and the staff lovely, food excellent and nothing too much trouble but would like a sea view next time but simply request this on booking
Although first impression is that the building and rooms are dated and in need of a revamp they were actually working on this during our stay. however what the overall look lacked the food and service more than made up for , it was fantastic value for money. And most importantly clean.
I have stayed at this hotel a few times out of season on visits to Lancs. for work. It's quiet and near the BNorth train station and not too far from the town. The staff are friendly, and attentive. I needed an early breakfast - cooked bfast starts at 8.30 and they were happy to make toast and tea and provided cereal and fruit and they were very tolerant of me coming in late for dinner. The rooms are small but comfortable and many with sea views (although you can hear the road outside) it's warm. I didn't like the first room they gave me, but they changed it with no fuss and I've had nice ones ever since. The restaurant is nice in a kind of spanish hotel way, clean and has sea views. The food is surprisingly good, there's entertainment often at Tiffany's next door. Out of season there were quite a lot of older couples and groups, all quite mobile and friendly though and no stag parties which is a relief. It's very good value for money. No complaints.
Ihave stayed at the Royal York before a couple of years ago.I found this time it wasnt as good bedrooms were not cleaned properly decor not so good in bedrooms. On suite bathrooms very small and door to shower cubicle very small we just about squeezed in the shower. Food was excellent and staff were great and polite i supposed that made up for it. If you get a back room and it is over the smocking area it is very noisey.Wouldnt stay there again.
food hot with well varied menu, rooms adequate and warm, service excellent staff very friendly and helpful.
the staff were friendly and helpful and all the guest i spoke to were happy with the hotel. we took our 3 children with us and it was a positive break for us all and a wonderful end to the school holidays. the food, menu and service was excellent and i would not hesitate to used the hotel again and recommed it to others.
food in this hotel is excellent, would definitely stay here again.
Staff really friendly and the food was excellent! We will definately stay here again the next time we visit Blackpool!
Typical type of Blackpool hotel - nothing flash! Surprisingly quite as being on the esplanade. Wouldn't go back again, however, the standard of hotels throughout Blackpool seem similar and it's hard to find a hotel with a high standard. To sum it up - Cheap and cheerful hotel.
The single room I booked was tiny and it was quite cold. However, the staff provided me wih a great portable heater. The price included a really good 3 course dinner and a huge breakfast. The front desk and restaurant staff were very friendly.
Despite looking like it could do with a bit of a makeover the service was top notch and the staff couldn't do enough for me. Excellent food and service would make this a first choice for me if i go to Blackpool again
My husband and I went for a two day break for his birthday, room was very noisy with wind coming in at side of window I went to reception who gave me three other room keys and told me to select one of my choice and return the keys to her. Room was much bigger and nicer. Food was good and restaurant service was good and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. This hotel is very tired looking, but the hotel Tiffany next door has bought it and are in the middle of refurbishments, once this is done it will be much nicer. Only moan I had was the there were a lot of pensioners at this hotel and we were the youngest there at 40 yrs other than that there was caberet on downstairs every evening and the location was great we took our car and had no problem parking outside the hotel. For the price we paid £80.00 for us both for Dinner B & B for two nights we would stay again.
Like any other typical Blackpool hotel, in need of refurbishment. Carpets very worn. Smoking area should be shut off from non-smoking area.
Excellent location (North Shore), dinner bed & breakfast superb value, staff very pleasant, recommended.
A typical medium class hotel in Blackpool. The rooms are clean and of a reasonable size. The restaurant produces a choice of menu every evening and is efficiently managed by its friendly staff. In season there is a full entertainment programme in the evening.
A bit dissapointed with the room, very small but the friendly staff and service compensated for this. The cabaret was very good and the Irish waiter was very attentive and funny.
Single room was VERY small, but this is a friendly, well-run hotel in a location convenient for the town centre.
