The price was good, but the overwhelming stench of the worst disinfectant cleaner ever was overpowering as we entered the room. After we left the windows open for a few hours, it was only somewhat bearable. The bed was good and clean. The location was a pretty hefty walk (15 min?) downhill to Coogee Bay (which was delightful), but the walk back up the hill was tough, especially after a meal. I guess I'd stay here again if I needed to be near the university, hospitals, or Centennial Park, or a fairly close ride to the airport with amenities nearby, but not as a location near the beach (there are many much closer) . All in all a decent bed for the price, but there seemed to be better around.
Room was very small and smelt damp. By the time we worked out that the shower was leaking and the carpet was wet, hence the smell, reception had closed for the night. Parking is difficult as there are only 3 dedicated spots for the hotel and off street parking wasn't much better. Would use again, only get there a little earlier for parking.
My 3 night stay (23-26 April) on ground floor room #103 was delightful. Lodge's location is excellent. Without a car the bus service is the best I've experienced in Sydney, about 4-5 buses every 5-10 mins. On left side of lodge is an hotel but I heard no noise. On the right side is a busy United Garage. Around the corner is the art deco Ritz picture theatre. There's a small shopping centre past the hotel. Near the picture theatre there are lots & lots & lots of eating venues. The best part is it's a short bus trip to Coogee, the Pacific Ocean. I've rated cleanliness as average because it had been a while since the area behind the bathroom door had seen a vacuum cleaner ! The most amazing thing to me is that crockery & cutlery is provided but no washing detergent or tray to dry, other than on top of the lovely wooden cabinet where the TV is located. And there's a quite nice cafe on site where you can read the daily papers.
steep staircase for carrying luggage, towels replaced every 2 days also waste paper bin. bed never made by staff or vacuum clean but ideal for travellers without car as there about 6 buses travel. past front door to city We will not return to Perouse Lodge as we tried this as a change from city hotel although this experience was not as bad as I had read in visitors comments I think because we changed our booking to King Room.
Handy to the Uni. Small.
A very comfortable and convenient place to stay, close to restaraunts, pub and the beach. The lack of parking was dissapointing but the local streets are fairly safe. I would stay there again, no problems.
A reasonably priced room in an older building with character in a location reasonably convenient to beaches and the city. The en suite fan was noisy but the bed was good and the split system air con was effective and quiet. There was a bit of noise at night with guests threatening to kill each other but i don't blame the lodge for that.
Great location & nice staff but the bathroom was small and grubby with the shower sliding door broken. The room does not lock from the inside and young children can escape at any time.
We stayed in a king size bed this time as we found the double size bed room was really small. I would rather stay elsewhere however, there are no nicer accommodation that we could find within 10 min walking distance to UNSW. This time the room was larger with higher ceiling. But I still find it a bit noisy at night. The bed was quite close to the door and therefore you can hear people talking in the corridor. We liked the free wireless internet in the room though.
This being a Lodge makes it hard to compare. As you dont get room service or daily fresh linen .... The room was very basic. location was good to where i needed to be, BUT there was NO parking............... The staff were very friendly. Unfortunately i wont stay there again.......
I was lead to believe I would find carparking fairly easy, which wasn't the case
A convenient, clean and comfortable place to stay - we always enjoy being here and look forward to our next visit!
A really lovely place to stay! Good value for money, clean, comfortable and in a great Eastern Suburbs location. I'm looking forward to my next stay here!
Was great, and location for me personally very suitable as many relatives, friends in area, will recommend and stay here again on regular visits to Sydney thank you.
