Persal Hostal Madrid Guest Reviews

4 out of 5

The title says it all. This hotel is near everything: restaurants, shopping, transportation. It is surrounded by restaurants offering pretty much anything you'd like. There's even one attached. We were a few short blocks from the Metro which will take you anywhere you want to go. A couple of warnings. This is not the Marriott! The rooms are spartan, but clean. We had no problem with street noise but did have to change rooms after the first night as we were give a room right next to the stairs and across from the elevator. Not pleasant. The staff was accomadating, however, and moved us right away to a much quiter location. All in all, for the price (breakfast included), a good place to stay provided you understand the rooms are small and spartan. For us, it was all about location.

My son and I recently returned from a 2 night stay at Hostal Persal. The trip was booked just 2 days before arriving. The day before I called the hostal directly to confirm our reservation. They had received the reservation and our request for two beds/non-smoking. The day we arrived it was early(9:30am) so Hostel Persal stored our luggage and told us the room would be ready by 11am. When we returned it wasa nice surprise to find our luggage already in our room with two beds: one a double and the other a single. The room was somewhat small but very clean and adequate with FREE wireless internet and a room safe. We also had the breakfast every moring which was good and plentyful. The best thing about this hostal was it's helpful English speaking STAFF and the LOCATION as you could walk to most major attractions!!!

You are in the center of nightlife if you pick this hostel. It is very simple but clean so if you do not plan to stay long in your room but enjoy Madrid than it could be a place for a you.

My complaint about the hotel is that the bath and washbasin had no plugs, the TV set showed a thick and soundless snowstorm on all but one channel and the bedroom walls needed soundproofing. On my departure day they started to decorate all the rooms in my corridor, so maybe some improvements will be made. Breakfast good, service very good.

I would definitely stay here again. Lovely hotel (don't be fooled by the title "Hostal")It is in a brilliant situation, & I had a lovely front room with small balcony where I could watch the world go by below. Despite Madrd's legendary night-life, the fantastic double glazed doors ensured that I got a good sleep at night. My room (a twin for single occupancy) was small, but very clean & comfortable with lots of little extras (toiletries etc.) in the bathroom, not expected when I had paid such a reasonable rate. Great place!

Ideal location for downtown. Good breakfast, clean rooms and friendly staff. A little overpriced though.

The hotel certainly needs some renovation and repainting. The tap was leaking the bathroom door was hard to open. The location was great.

The bathroom is too small, hard to get in. A bit noisy, not from the street, but from other rooms.

The hostal is perfectly located in the centre of Madrid and the staf was very friendly. I have some comments although. We booked a triple bedroom, but it was a pity we couldn't get three single beds. The room was very dark and the view outside was nothing but some walls from the other side. It was very warm inside and a pity we could regulate the heating. We were forced to open a window, but there was too much noise and bad smelling outside. But we had (me and two kids) had a wonderful time in Madrid.

The Persal Hostal is in a very central location just a couple of hunder metres from the Puerto del Sol metro stop. The rooms are basic enough but they are clean and the beds are comfortable. The only downside of the location is that it can be very noisy at night outside the hotel and the windows don't keep the noise out!! The staff are very polite and friendly and all seem to have good English. The breakfast is good, basic continental breakfast. They could do with a few extra toasters though!! Rooms are cleaned regularly Puerto del Sol in a lively area with a lot of bars and restuarants. But watch out for pick pockets in the area, keep your valuables close at hand.

This hostal is very central. Staff are pleasant . Rooms are small in particular the bathroom and the shower. Rooms are not sound proof so there is some noise at night time with people coming and going. Look for a room away from the lift and at the back of the hostal as there are major road works outside the hotel. Surrounding area is very pleasant with plenty of bars and resturants. This is my second time to stay here and would recomment it.

Brilliantly situated and helpful desk staff. Good breakfast for price, mattresses a tad firm and have had better showers, but would recommend for a sight-seeing break.
