Plaza Hotel Townsville

staff were awesome could not get more friendly and helpful staff. only down side is the noise from the street, not that the motel can control that and the fridge in room not on and no cold water in same.

We enjoyed our stay but the hotel does need alot of work done on it. The location was the best as we had a function in town and didn't have to drive. The staff were really great and friendly which makes the first impressions more relaxed.Would stay again if they did a bit of work on the rooms

can not conplain about the staff were more than helpful, but....the air con in first rooms and yes, was cheaper to book 2 seperate rooms than have the four of us in 1 room go figure, staff would have to clean two rooms instead of one now. the air conditioner was not working even left the rooms for an hour to see if would cool down while we found somewhere to stay cool, on returning when entering rooms could not breathe that hot as the humidity was about 100% and temp was 38 degrees. changed to new rooms and was not much cooler and we all had the worst nights sleep ever. the bar was shut down over christmas period, what the.... and breakfast had changed since last stay. not sure about the new ownership thinking need a new place to stay when in townsville

Very surprised with this hotel. Read some not so favourable comments, but my husband and I were very happy with the room, location and staff. The mall (Flinders Street) was a bit of a mess, but should be great when all the work is finished. Would recommend this to my friends and stay again.

smells very musty and can see water leaking everywhere. very loud with the reconstruction going on street out side not hotel fault though. awesome location, bar and cafe eatery conected to hotel. i stay there whenever i am in townsville as suits my purpose. totaly love there is a bar downstrairs that does not have pokies though would like to be able to play keno.

Comfortable and affordable with an excellent location. I am not sure if the price was good because of the massive rennovations to the mall which was adjacent to the motel but location will be excellent when mall is completed. Only real problem was when the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night, I don't believe the guests were properly informed it was safe to go back inside.

beds were comfortable, room was roomy. aircon worked well. only down side was very small coffee cups ans not enough milk. other than that was a good stay and the buffet b/fast was yummy

No five star hotel here, it is clean though, and adequate in everyway. Breakfast was way better than some 5 star hotels I have stayed in

The hotel was very run down and needed a face-lift quite urgently. Carpet was moldy and smelling. Curtain broke down on the first day of stay. Room was big though. The location was supposed to be good (centrally located at Flinders Mall) but the area was under re-development programme til end of 2010 and most shops were either queit or moved out. If you plan to go there before end of 2010 I would suggest staying at hotels on Palmer Street, an area much more lively.

The price was very reasonable, The location was central to everything, the meals were reasonable and the room clean and well appointed. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

Good location, price and friendly staff but in need of some refurbishment

Only problem we found was getting a meal on Sunday night as everything seemed to be closed.

While the price for this hotel was very reasonable, you got what you paid for. The hotel badly needs an overhaul. Also parking is away from the hotel and costs 10 euro per day. Would not stay there again.

It was a weird mix of really good and really not so good. The foyer and in the rooms looked top class- the corridors looked housing commission. Staff very friendly and helpful

+ Check in was possible at 10 a.m. without any problems - Rooms are very poorly soundproofed

was disappointed in the bed lamp not having any bulb as i like to read before sleep. the staff were friendly and helpful. the breakfast was of a better standard than i have had at a more expensive hotel.
