Pohutu Lodge Rotorua

Had everything we needed for our stay. Perhaps we are not demanding enough? A bit of a trek if walking into town but great location for geysers (you can see these from back of property).

We enjoyed our stay, took two kids (11 & 12 years), and had good spaces and amenities (an additional toilet off the kids room was great). Located on the edge of town but right on the main road into the city & to sights - made it easy to navigate. Comfy beds, quiet, close to gas station (BP / Wild Bean Cafe). Would stay again.

great price, nice room, very helpful and friendly hosts.2 min drive from city center, very easy to find. only things to be aware of: The room sometimes shook when a big truck went past. They turned off all the power points when servicing room including the fridge! otherwise we were very happy

Two story apartment had creaky floors which was noisy for those sleeping downstairs. Smoke alarm was missing off the wall. Rooms were nice and warm for mid winter and plenty of blankets and pillows were supplied.

It was a nice place to stay. Could do with some updating and maintenance. ie taps need repairing, toilet & shower need to work properly.

Friendly welcome and helpful advice on what to see and do. Room was spacious and well-equipped. Felt the earth move a few times which was memorable but that's no comment on the lodge!

Hotel owners/managers very friendly even washed car off for me after a long drive on dirt roads. Very helpful hotel Is just off main road good view of the Geyser hotel is also quiet

Pohutu lodge was great value for money. It's not the flashest place on earth, but rooms were clean and simple. Location wise it's ok, town would be a bit of a walk, but there is a BP just round the corner which is handy for essentials. Richard, was a great host and made us feel welcome. Only item I missed was there was no iron/ironing board in the room. Would I go there again? If I was on a budget, absolutely!

Very good quality motel, with helpful and friendly staff. 2 bedroom units ideal for families. Free views of Maori village and geysers next door!

Our family of 5 stayed last weekend at Pohutu Lodge and had a great experience. The place was perfect for a family (we had two rooms plus sofa-bed in lounge, and one and half bathrooms) and at a very good price. It was very clean and well stocked in the kitchen, plenty of bed-linen and towels, thorough housekeeping, and 2 TVs with Sky. It certainly is one of the better motels we have stayed at over the years. The added bonus was that it backed onto an open park area right next to Pohutu Geyser which meant that we were able to 'hop over the fence', across the grass and watch Pohutu from an excellent vantage point. At some point they will need to replace the carpet which is getting old, but that didn't affect what was a good experience for us.
