Port Douglas Retreat

Excellent location, close to beach and shops etc. Friendly management and comfortable, well equipped accommodation.

We stayed at the Retreat at Port Douglas in May 2008 for one week. We really enjoyed our stay and would be pleased to recommend it to anyone. It was extremely well placed and within a short walk to the beach, town and marina. The manager and staff were very knowledable and helpful, they do not however service your room at all and charged us for an extra roll of toilet paper.

Rather dated and in need of a facelift. However the room was clean and comfortable, the situation excellent and the price was about right.

While the room was clean, the hotel had a problem with insects. Our room and bed were full of ants! There was no housekeeping and clean towels, toilet paper, etc. were all extra. On a positive note, the pool was great and the hotel was only 3 blocks from the center of town.

Port Douglas Retreat was very pleasantly located, near to the beach as well as a busy main street with shops, bars and resturants. The apartments themselves were unserviced, which means, cleaning, emptying bins etc is down to oneself. Also clean towels, etc have a small fee. Just something to bear in mind when choosing these apartments. Reception staff were helpful with advice on trips and places to visit.

Excellent place to stay, self contained. Only problem we had was getting out of car park early in morning, had to find open button and then stand on ladder to reach it to get out when in hurry to get to airport. Overall great place, good p[rice, and service.

In walking distance of all the major ammenities of Port Douglas. Bear in mind that these are unserviced appartements, recomended non the less.

Great place and wonderful location. Beautiful pool and landscaping. Only problem was an extremely dirty floor. It might be a one time thing.

Very quiet and private studio apartment but only a few minutes walk to the main street. Comfortable king sized bed and good kitchen facilities.

Very pleasant area, very conveniently placed (a five minute walk from the marina which has a great restaurant) but well away from the noisiness of the centre. Enjoyed the salt water pool.

Small tropical paradise within short walk of all attractions. Would stay again.

Room was clean and large with a great cooking space if required. The resort was very clean, quiet and relaxing. Close to the CBD, there is no restaurant in house, however, its proximity to the main street well compensates. Would recommend to stay and would stay again.

Very tired resort. Apartment dated and the whole place looks tired. Very basic kitchen facilities. Not good value and I'd recommend trying somewhere else - there are plenty to choose from. Pool was nice though.

We had never been to Australia before and this was our first port of call, the accommodation was very good, it was in an excellent location as it was close to all amenities, the owners were very knowledgeable about all trips which we were able to book through them at no extra charge.

My wife and I stayed here for almost a week at the end of October 2005. Very clean, perfectly situated and affordable. The room was spacious and well appointed. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful. We would definitely consider staying here again and would recommend this to anyone.

Great location 2 blocks from town. Beautiful lush tropical grounds and pool area.

staff - yardman to receptionists were extremely well informed and friendly and helpful - loved the intimacy and lack of children.
