"We stayed at the Retreat at Port Douglas in May 2008 for one week. We really enjoyed our stay and would be pleased to recommend it to anyone. It was extremely well placed and within a short walk to the beach, town and marina. The manager and staff were very knowledable and helpful, they do not however service your room at all and charged us for an extra roll of toilet paper." - Anonymous
"Rather dated and in need of a facelift. However the room was clean and comfortable, the situation excellent and the price was about right." - Roy Boutel
"While the room was clean, the hotel had a problem with insects. Our room and bed were full of ants! There was no housekeeping and clean towels, toilet paper, etc. were all extra. On a positive note, the pool was great and the hotel was only 3 blocks from the center of town." - Anonymous
"Port Douglas Retreat was very pleasantly located, near to the beach as well as a busy main street with shops, bars and resturants.
The apartments themselves were unserviced, which means, cleaning, emptying bins etc is down to oneself. Also clean towels, etc have a small fee. Just something to bear in mind when choosing these apartments.
Reception staff were helpful with advice on trips and places to visit.
