room size was ok but wall paper was ripped off in large pieces in several places and peeling off from the top of the walls. The walls were paper thin, meaning everything could be heard from the next room including what they were doing which went on for several hours until the early hours of the morning (2.30am)- their bed was banging against our wall - all very disturbing especially as i had to get up early. Thought price was a little high considering no breakfast was included. I would not stay there again.

Reasonably convenient and pretty decent for the price. The place is fairly clean and rooms are of average size. Interior decor need some attention but was fairly neat. Reasonably well maintained. Would not be top of the list in term of preference but would recommend for people with medium budget.

Great hotel for this price! Services feature free Wi-Fi internet access and restaurant with bar that are opened until late evening. Friendly receptionists solved all minor problems in no time. Rooms are big with bath en-suite. Hotel is localed quite far away from city center (15min by bus or 7£ taxi ride) near big and noisy road.

breakfast menu limited and unvarying. radio-alarm in my room not working - not fixed when I asked. Radiator full on and not adjustable - receptionist very helpful, changed my room when she couldn't fix it. Only ventilation was window overlooking main road. No closed bin for sanitary towels - no bin in bathroom at all in second room.

The hotel is well located and close to the city centre. I think there is room for improvement in terms of some of the facilities in rooms, such as tv's with remote controls, and more channels made available byond the basic 5 channels. I also thot one bath creme satchet wasn't enough for me to wash properly. The hotel can do better Generally, a good stay

Great value for a money and this is. Stuff are great. Room is very small and basic. Good for short term stay. However, if you do not need to think about budget do not stay here.

Portland Hotel, I found to be very good and the staff exceeded my expectations. I wish to emphasis that the girl who was on Reception was excellent and deserves to be complimented for her excellent care, customer service and attention to detail. The breakfast was superbly laid out and was fresh and very tasty. Staff were very pleasant and this hotel has alot going for it, staffwise.

As per previous stays, I enjoyed my time @ the Portland and would not hesitate to stay there again.

The staff were all friendly and helpful. Although the hotel is on the main road to the west of Birmingham, the Hagley Road, traffic noise was not intrusive.

Very helpful staff. Food better than most similar hotels with tasty fresh fruit and vegetables. They valued my constructive feedback. I avoid wheat through choice not a medical necessity.

The hotel is very good value for money. Customer service is excellent, and bar/restaurant facilities are of a very high standard.

Accomodation is relatively basic, reflecting the quite reasonable rates. Service is excellent, especially in the areas of bar and catering. Overall a very welcoming and comfortable hotel.
