Porto Mare Hotel Madeira

I found The Porto Mare Hotel Madeira to be excellent in every respect. In a long life, during which I have travelled widely, I can honestly say that this hotel ranks among the very best I have been lucky enough to stay in. The staff, in particular,were first class and did everything they could to make for a pleasant atmosphere as well as being extremely efficient.

The hotel was first class - i can't fault it at all. Free bus into Funchal is brilliant and the staff in every area are polite and helpful. I will go again.

Excellent hotel, lovely staff in restaurant and staff cleaning rooms were excellent and attentive (I had a small child and they were really accomodating). The staff at reception were not quite so friendly or efficient, when we arrived to chekc in they continued to talk amongst themselves and left us waiting for a couple of minutes - a friendly smile/nod and a promise to deal with us soon was all that was necessary. That quibble aside we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I would be very happy to return to this hotel and happy to recommend it to my friends/family

A wonderful hotel with beautiful gardens - should be a five star. A good walk from the old part of Funchal (where all the good restaurants are) but would rather stay in the Lido area as the air was fresher than "downtown"

The hotel had everything we wanted and more. The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. It exceeded our expectation

I had read comments that this hotel had delusions of being a 5 star. I would dispute this only in the sense that although the whole experience was close to 5 star (please note that on business, I have stayed at some of the world's best hotels), I did not note any delusions on the part of the staff or management. They simply got on with it in a very professional and friendly manner.

An excellent hotel to be highly recommended. All the facilites you need for a successful stay. Breakfast also excellent. The free hotel bus brings you quickly to the centre of Funchal. No complaints whatsoever.

I could not be more pleased with our stay at this hotel. Excellent staff, facilities, and location!

We loved this hotel, this is the reason why we went back. Maybe the hotel was a not so clean as last year, but we hope to go back. The personal is very helpfull and kind. Because of our second visit we received a"welcome card" with plenty of reductions and advantages.

We were moved from the hotel to the Cliff Bay which was absolutely fabulous. We have never in all of our experience had the level of value and quality that we received in this instance. This was a real wow of an experience with a superb room and everything absolutely as it should be.
