Remodelled in late 2007, family owned hotel, with free internet access, WIFI and reception open 24h. The hotel is located in the centre of Barcelona, only 100 meters from the Ramblas. All rooms have air conditioning, private bathroom, shower, satellite TV. Radio, telephone, have hairdryer and a box safe (extra cost)superior rooms have original paintings of Barcelona. Solarium We have a solarium terrace where our guests con relax and enjoy the Mediterranean sun. Pull up a beach chair, relax away from the city, and get your ideal tan in a discrete, relaxing and calm atmosphere. Internet Area The Hotel Principal provides our guests with permanent and completely free Internet connection in our "Internet Area". We understand that nowadays being "connected" is an absolute necessity. Other Services Reception is open 24 hours a day. Breakfast room is open from 7:30 to 10:30 every morning and offers a hot and cold buffet.

Getting there:Directions to Hotels Principal from the airport: By bus: Take the A1 blue bus from the airport to Plaça Catalunya. Take the metro (linea 3, green line) to Liceu stop. Walk two blocks on Hospital St. (on the left as you leave the metro). Turn left on Junta de Comerç st. (the first street after St. Agustí). You will see the sign for Hotel Principal on your right. By train: Take the train from the airport to estació de Sants (Sants station). Take the metro (linea 3, green line) to Liceu stop. Walk two blocks on Hospital St. (on the left as you leave the metro). By taxi: go to the taxi line in front of the airport. This should cost around 30 Euros. By car: When you arrive to Barcelona, ask for Plaza Catalunya and take Las Rambles. On Las Rambles you have to turn right on Hospital St. After two blocks on Hospital St. turn left on Junta de Comerç st. (the first street after the square). You will see the sign for Hotel Principal on the right.

Great location, close to the met station as well. Super helpful staff. Very quiet although walls are the usual European thin - didn´t bother us but it´s probably hit and miss. Room very basic and the shower size was more than annoying. Overall very clean and enjoyed the stay.
It is located in a side street of Las Ramblas (named L'hospital). It is also surrounded by restaurants, supermarkets and cafeterias.
A quiet hotel but very near La Rambla. Breakfast not included.
Clean, modern and good sized rooms. Convenient location to get around Barcelona. The area was very quiet even though La Rambla was just round the corner. Highly recommended.

The only complaint we had was that we booked two twin rooms and, unfortunately, one of them smelled strongly of smoking. Other than that, we had a lovely break, the breakfast was lovely, the location very convenient and the rooms and bathrooms excellent.
We have stayed before and as always, we were pleased with our rooms and the services. The Filipino receptionist was really helpful. The location, so close to the Ramblas is fantastic.

Rooms good, clean and big beds. Hotel is a bit of a maze as it is across several buildings. Staff friendly enough and generally helpful. Downstairs areas a bit dated but clean and servicable. Free internet was handy. Breakfast was very good, not just continental but eggs, bacon, omlette, etc. Enjoyed our stay.

The beds are very firm. Could do with an option for an extra madrass. Rooms with window toward the elevator or rooms where the window is a couple of meters from the neighbors window ,and with hardly any daylight should be explained to customer before and come with a reduced price. Great breakfast! Friendly reception.
very good value hotel. Great buffet breakfast. Good central location. Only issue was coming back late at night on and from the Ramblas which had a lot of agressive pickpockets and prostitutes.
Hotel accessed by walking down a couple of dark streets which looked more threatening than they were. Very close to Ramblas and Liceu station. Kettle in room (we took our own tea and coffee). Breakfast not included but available for 9 euro (we declined!) Other guests were noisy but we did stay at the weekend so that was to be expected. Room lovely. Brilliant organic restaurant opposite hotel.Would stay here again.
