PO Box 27 State Highway 6 Punakaiki, West Coast New Zealand
Punakaiki is tucked into the northern end of Punakaiki beach, just 50 meters from the high tide mark, and 300 meters south of the famous Pancake Rocks and Blowholes. Few places in the world can offer such comfort so close to the wild action. The Resort has been carefully designed to blend into its natural setting and capture the essence of its beauty. A fan shaped lounge overlooks a natural wetland and from the dining room you can watch the changing moods of the untamed Tasman Sea, for hours until the sun sinks into the horizon. Designed in harmony with the local environment, our rooms are cleverly staggered for the best view, while maintaining privacy from one another. Elevated walkways wind over luxuriant plantings to access many rooms. Our staff maintains the West Coast’s traditions of friendliness and hospitality. With their knowledge of local walks, beaches and activities, they will help you enjoy the wonderful environment that begins a few meters beyond the front door of the hotel.

Great location...not very far from the Pancake Rocks. Large rooms. Restaurant on site.
Puntakaiki Resort. A pleasant surprise. Comfortable room- pleasant Reception welcome. Stunning beach views and rolling surf-just a short drive (a minute) to Pancake Rocks, Blowholes and great walks. Can strongly recommend.
Standard Room, the rooms have either ocean or rainforest views. All rooms are modern studio units with ensuite bathroom, SKY TV and Wireless Internet.
Eco Suites are more spacious than the Standard rooms, set in and around the local rainforest with stunning ocean and/or rainforest views. The suites are solar powered and have been designed and built to have minimal impact on the environment.
Very nice place to stay & outstanding location. Service a bit slack & would hate to see it when busy but then no doubt more staff would be on duty. Downstairs units noisey if upstairs unit occupied. Really tidy clean spacious rooms though & the most beautiful rugged scenic spot, would reccomend it 8/10
One of the more expensive places we stayed. Worth it for the view and so close to the blowhole (300m). Food in the restaurant was not quite to quality I'd hoped for.
We were met with wonderful staff from the moment we walked in. We wanted to catch the sunset over the ocean with a drink from our balcony so the lady at the bar even carried the champagne to our room while we got our bags from the car. This excellent service continued at dinner in the restaurant and again at breakfast. All up , it was wonderful so congratulations to all the staff involved.
Very happy with this hotel as it seemed choice of accommodation was limited. Right on the beach, warm and private. Very easy walk to the blow holes which were spectacular. This area is truly beautiful. If travelling in winter make sure you carry lunch as a lot of shops and hotels were closed for winter. Restaurant was lovely. Worth the extra money to be right on the beach. Definately recommend to my friends!
We stayed at the resort for one night during a two-week trip around South Island. The resort has an excellent beach-front location and the view from the restaurant is beautiful. Food was well presented and the staff were helpful and friendly. We would recommend the resort to friends without hesitation.
Loved Punakaiki Resort, location, the sunset, the eco ness of the resort, the restaurant was good food and wine (maybe a little pricey!) but overall very good stopover.
Only had an overnight stop here but place was nice. Would not hesitate to stay there again.
We arrived late but the view from the room was amazing!
A stylish, friendly resort in a beautiful setting.
This is a lovely Resort Hotel in a wonderful area. The facilities were good and the service was very good. The restaurant meal in the evening was very average and expensive however
Fabulous position. Unexpected sea view in what was standard room. Rooms generally well planned and presented. Inexplicably there was a rusted metal soap holder in the shower which just detracted from what was otherwise good quality facilities. Staff all attentive and friendly. The downside the restaurant food [we had an evening meal and breakfast] which being charitable could best be described as mediocre. Avoid the restaurant - there are alternatives for all meals elsewhere in Punakaiki.
We enjoyed our stay, the location is wonderful and the pancake rocks have to be seen, go at high tide to see the blow holes at their best. The rooms are very good and the restraunt good too.
Not obvious where to park when booking in. Otherwise enjoyed the stay
This hotel was everything & more that I imagined. Views were fantastic from our room & also from the restaurant. Food in the restaurant was also very good.
The rooms were very good but we were unable to park the car anywhere near the room. The hotel was in an isolated position and when we tried to reserve a table in the restaurant for dinner, we were told they were too busy with large parties of guests. We would not stay there again.
Not the best of welcomes, but excellent location and good room with great views. Expensive restaurant.
Excellant place. Wish we had more time to stay longer than we did.
Four of us stayed for one night in January 07. Our rooms were lovely and had excellent views. Bathrooms (shower rooms actually) could have been better lit (no external window) but great shower. Even though we weren't looking for kitchen facility, they looked good for anyone wishing to self-cater. The location of this hotel is beautiful and the service was excellent - all the staff were very obliging. Would thoroughly recommend.
