A nice room great staff .
This hotel is old and really requires a major maker over. Room was large and spacious (but old furniture and fittings). Ideal position, easy walk to town centre, shops, etc.
Great location meant we were able to walk everywhere. Friendly staff made it a pleasure to stay at the Quality Hotel Gateway Devonport! the room was clean and cosy and well supplied with tea/coffee etc. thank you!
We stayed two nights and were visiting friends in town, so we didn't spend a lot of time in the room. However, the room was very nice. Modernised apart from the bathroom, which was a bit odd and just a small disappointment. The mattress was uncomfortable on one side, clearly the main side slept on by single travellers. Service of the reception desk was without complaint, particularly the staff member who assisted with maps and directions to the tourist information centre upon check out.
Excellent position being centrally located in the heart of Devonport. Very clean room, but a bit dated. Restaurant and hotel staff exemplary. I will definitely use this accommodation again.
A very nice hotel with a few little extras and good service
The Quality Hotel Gateway, Devonport, Tasmania is a good regional accommodation venue. It is close to the main shopping precinct of Devonport and, therefore, to all restaurants. Worth a look, and the pricing is excellent also.
Older style motel unit at the back of the hotel looking towards the ferry port. Room was very noisy from the bottle shop below and from other guests flushing toilets etc. Breakfast was included and good.
Clean and comfortable, a bit of adjoining room plumbing noise and noise of slamming doors. Reasonable breakfast
Only thing is although Tassy is cooler it does have warm weather and the Gateway has no aircon.
The only thing I didn't like was that there was not air conditioning in the room. I checked with the staff and they brought a fan to the room immediately which helped a bit. The other thing that concerned me was that we were on the third floor and the middle window opened to an opening of at least a metre wide, and at least a metre high, something I thought was a bit unsafe. Parking can be a problem too. Overall I would still consider staying there again.
Friendly service on arrival and checkout. Room well equipped and very clean. Great central location.
This hotel could do with refurbishment as the furnishings were quite grubby and shabby. The bed was confortable. Breakfast service was good. There was not enough parking so we had to park in a lot next to the hotel which caused us to worry about securtiy of our car. Would stay again as it is in a convenient location.
Arrived late at night. Staff polite and understanding. We were dissappointed that there were insufficient parking spaces on the Hotel property. Not happy leaving our car in the street all night. It also made handling luggage very difficult late at night. Apart from that, the room and breakfast were good.
They had a function on the night we stayed and the music was that loud in our room we could not get to sleep. Spoke to the duty manager who advised the music would be turned off within the next 15mins, which it was.
Disappointed at restaurant/bistro provision. Don't like eating in a 'pokies' vicinity and other hotel restaurant not very appealing. Room provided and staff welcome much better than anticipated. Would certainly stay here again but eat elsewhere.
The hotel was excellent value for money which included a continental breakfast. As it was summer airconditioning would have been appreciated in the room. Even though the corridor was airconditioned, the small sliding unlockable door (above the room door) let in the corridor noise and posed a security risk.
The Hotel overall is very good but the room itself smelt very very musty. I could not be moved to another room as the hotel was fully booked. This ruined what would have been a wonderful stay. I would not risk trying this hotel again!
