Unless you had a car, you would be at a disadvantage. Walking to any shops would be a somewhat of a "drag". Even with a car, Heidelberg Road traffic could be a problem for anyone who did not know the area very well.

Very good fully equipped 2 bedroom apartment with plenty of room for a family. Just needing a little updating, but well located, friendly and helpful management. Excellent value for money if you have transport. We'll stay there again.
These apartments are very spacious and clean. The surrounds are well maintained and I would stay there again. Some may find that it is located too far from cafes or restaurants, but with it's own fully equipped kitchen it was everything we needed. Will definately be staying there again.
Me and family like this apartment very much. It is spacious for a family and the host was kind and very helpful. In general we were please to stay at Quest Alphington. I shoudl recommend this apartment to my friends if they wish to bring his family to visit Melbourne.
Excellent price and facilities. A bit out of the way but still convenient to train stations and certainly not a problem if you have a car. Ideal for families wanting a home away from home rather than a small hotel room or serviced apartment.
We needed a 2-bedroom unit somewhere in Melbourne for a few nights while we looked around the city sights. Quest Alphington was the best value we could find meeting all our needs. It is in a quiet area just off a main arterial road about 8km from city centre. The only drawback is that it is about 800 metres from both the railway stations for the area and is not on a tram route. In fine weather the walk to the station is easy. The proprietor was friendly and helpful. We definitely would stay there again.
Value for money and close to local cafes at Fairfield. Near to train station. Trains every 20 minutes into the centre of Melbourne and major sporting complexes.

Alphington is close to the Eastern Freeway - 15 min from centre of City as well as being close to the North Eastern Suburbs. I recommend it.
Great if your off to the footy.... Same train line as the MCG
The apartment was clean, spacious (excellent for families) and well appointed, and the reception was friendly and welcoming. If you have no need to be right in the centre of town, then this is definitely one to consider.
