The Quinta de São Thiago is a family-run private house and gardens set in a very peaceful environment on the lower slopes of the Sintra hills. This historical building dates back to the 16th Century and was once inhabited by monks from the local monastery.
Guests are invited to enjoy Quinta de São Thiago as if it were their own home. In the grounds, a large swimming pool and tree-shaded areas invite you to swim and sunbathe, or relax with a book in the sun.
The house is nicely furnished and offers a fusion of modern comfort alongside old charm and character.
Quinta de São Thiago also features a well-stocked library, a chapel and a music room available for dancing.
Guests can enjoy the beautiful gardens where there is also a tennis court.
Free internet access is available via the modem in the public hotel area
Nearby there are sandy beaches, golf courses, ancient palaces and public footpaths to explore winding through the green Sintra hills.
Sintra Village (Historical Centre- 3Km): where you can find places to visit, local shops with handicraft shops and a variety of restaurants and bars.
The lighthouse of Cabo da Roca (18 km): with its high cliffs, this lighthouse is the most westerly point in Europe.
Lisbon (30 km): a day trip to the capital city is easy, reachable by car through the fast roads or by public transport.

NOTE: The road that takes you to São Thiago is already part of the Sintra beauty. It is a secundary road, a path that leads into the Sintra heart.
By Car (from Lisbon Airport)
Leave the airport and head towards the 2nd circular road, going west. Continue on this road and you will join the IC19 motorway to Sintra. When the IC19 ends, you reach Ranholas. Continue along the narrower road, then turn right at the roundabout.
About 100 metres further on, turn left towards S. Pedro Sintra/Centro Histórico. Continue down towards the old Sintra Vila, passing the Royal Palace (with 2 very big chimneys) on your right-hand side. Head towards Seteais Palace, then once you have passed it, continue for about a further 1.4 km.
By the only road to the right, you will see a tile sign pointing to Quinta de S. Thiago. Go all the way down this secondary road (900 metres) until you reach a large white house with a green wooden door leading to a courtyard. |
