Found amongst the vineyards on the southern slopes of the main wine producing area of Madeira, a few kilometres west of Funchal, the Quinta do Estreito was the main wine producing estate in the area.
The main house has been totally and lovingly restored to house the main public areas, the Bacchus Gourmet Restaurant, the Vintage Bar and the Library reading room on the top floor that affords breathtaking views.
A swimming pool and esplanade has been built alongside, and a cascade of 46 elegant rooms and 2 suites on the slopes below. At the foot of the Quinta, around an old “adega” (wine lodge) is the Adega da Quinta Restaurant, serving all of Madeira’s typical country food.
The décor of the public areas reflects the elegance and luxury of Madeira’s bygone era. The rooms, all south facing, are in hues of beige and cream with light oak floors and marble and oak bathrooms. Wonderfully landscaped gardens include an olive grove, formal French garden, tropical plants, organic agriculture and a unique lavender field.

Once you have left the airport carry on on the highway to Ribeira Brava. After you pass Funchal, you will find an exit to Câmara de Lobos/Estreito Câmara de Lobos, turn there. Then on the stop, turn left. Carry on on the old road and futher up, on your left in a corner you will find a sign with Quinta do Estreito. |
