6 Orfila St. 28010 Madrid
A small palace from the 19th century, situated in a residential area, exclusive and tranquil, in the cultural centre and of business of the city, which serves like a setting to a new concept of hotel business in Madrid. Relais Chateaux Member since 2001 Conde Nast Johansens Recommended The building was built in 1886 as the residence of a bourgeois family. In the era of the 20's, due to the strong literary and theatrical interest of the family, a theatre was set up in the small palace of Orfila 6, which made their performances famous among the society of Madrid of the moment. In the era of the 90's, the building was reconverted into a hotel, preserving the facade, the carriage entrance, the main stairway, and the time which endows it with all the comfort, the aristocratic air of the time is considered in the decoration. The care of the most minimum detail in the twenty rooms and twelve suites, as well as the services of the hotel, go narrowly together with the philosophy of the treatment their guests should receive, so that the restaurant, the bar, the tea room, the convention room and a particular garden, offer their guests all the comfort possible.

The hotel is charming, rooms are very large and quiet. The bed is the most comfortable we've ever slept in. Large bathrooms with whirlpool tubs. The hotel staff is exceptional, especially the manager, Jose. Convenient location. Would highly recommend.
Enjoyable, quite and peaceful, not very far from downtown (museum, castle.....) with subway (10mn). Rooms are large and comfortable. Internet connection is not free.
We booked a standard room, but it was excellent. The price was right, as our 3 night stay was in July 2008 - July in Madrid is a perfect month for offers. Not sure about the rack rate!! We have only praise for every member of staff - friendly, courteous but extremely professional. Thoroughtly enjoyed dinner in the restaurant, only wish we had eaten there more than once. Secretly, the restaurant and bar are two of the reasons for ranking the "facilities" as very good. The third reason is that there aren't any "facilities", as in the "skyscraper hotel" meaning of the word, and for us that is heaven on a plate! Why did we book in the first place. Well, the July offer, and the fact that we are suckers for Relais Chateaux properties. Love them & never had a bad experience.
My wife and I were there for a long weekend, a city trip mid December 2007. Friday a day work and then enjoying Madrid. The welcome was very friendly and the hotel was surprisingly cosy and quiet. The breakfast was an indulgence...even a requested soft boiled egg, was cooked and served the correct way. The orange juice is freshly squeezed!! The only negative is that if a a family with small screamy young children sits next to your room... the quiteness is completely gone... the walls are not so isolated. Also it is some waiting for warm water, but if there is no hurry... be sure it will be a hot bath! No, we were pleased in general and would recommend it!
The walls were too thin - could hear everything the people next door was doing. In the bedroom and bathroom. This was the only thing that I found to be wrong. Great staff nad service in the hotel's restaurant was wonderful.
Beautiful lobby, lovely and quiet rooms furnished in charming colors and antiques, extraordinary friendly and helpful service. Any request was met with immediate assistance, from locating an internet cable, help securing directions to museums and dinner reservations, as well as assistance in purchasing an antique we found and shipping it to another country. We could not have done this on our own because of our lack of Spanish language skills.
