A mile from the centre of the village lies a scheduled national monument, the 17th C Chteau Saint Martin des Champs. This magnificent building, recently restored and renovated by Aernoud and Claudine Lippmann, has been transformed into a luxurious hotel and restaurant.

Getting there:Leave A9 motorway at Bziers Est (Nr. 35), direction "Centre Ville" (= Town center). At first roundabout take direction "Montpellier - Bedarieux". At second round about take direction "Bedarieux - Saint-Pons". Straight on to third roundabout, then take direction "Corneilhan". Straight on and after 6 kilorneters you''ll arrive at Murviel les Bziers. Follow this way into town center where youll turn right at the post-office. After 5 meters you''ll go again to the right (sign : "Domaine Saint Martin des Champs" = Avenue Paul Vidal). Straight on, and after 1,5 kilorneter you''il find the Chteau Saint-Matin des Champs on your right hand.

The chateau is a lovely building in a pleasant rural setting. However, there really is nothing to do or see in the area. If someone only wants rest and relaxation, it may be fine. The location proved too remote for my daughter and I, as we were using public transit. From the website, it seemed that the chateau was close to Béziers. In fact, it is close only to Murviel les Béziers, which is quite distant from Béziers. Twice we had to take a 38 Euro cab ride from the train station in Béziers. This offset the value in the reduced room rate we had received. Our option was to walk to Murviel to catch an infrequent bus (almost 4 Euro per person one way). The breakfast was fine but expensive if not included in the room rate. There is no elevator; carrying suitcases up to the second or third floor can be a challenge. The service was pleasant, and we enjoyed our spacious room and modern bathroom. The birds were loud in the early morning, so it is impossible to sleep in!
Un endroit parfait pour la detente, grande chambre, confort, grande baignoire, tres belle prestations, et une table à ne pas manquer! A recommander!!! A perfect place for good time. Great place, location and restaurant!! Don't miss it!!
SI vous souhaitez un peu de calme, c'est le bon endroit ! Cependant evitez la chambre 110 car elle donne sur le parking et la pore d'entrée est mal decoupé et laisse entrer les courant d'air!
Staff helpful and very welcoming. Only stayed one night but very relaxing. Dinner was delicious. Spotlessly clean.
The chateau was very nice and peaceful in beautiful surrounding countryside.
