"An historic building and dreamy location. This is a family owned hotel and the staff are friendly, welcoming and attentive, nothing seems to be too much trouble. However, with no restaurant on site and breakfasts being the customary lacklustre Italian affair you are forced out into the tourist trap that is Gubbio. Overall a charming place to stay and the loaction is stunning which would make up for most difficulties." - Mr Robert Ward
"Access by car was difficult.
Very friendly." - Richard cunningham
"The perfect place to stay in Gubbio !" - Alain Vaquier
"Beautiful, classy, understated, very romantic. Next time we will stay a week!" - Peter Drobac

| Hotel Description: |
|
Situated in the historic center of Gubbio, near the Cathedral, Palazzo dei Consoli, and many historical churches. The Relais Ducale is the annex of the Ducal Palace, where the Duke of Montefeltro used to welcome his owns guests. In 1997 the building was completely restored and become the beautiful hotel which it is today.
The rooms and suites with their antique furnishing, the verandas which can be enjoyed even in winter, the suspended garden rich of flowers and colors, the small rooms for reading and conversing, all of them create the ideal atmosphere for resting , enjoying a quiet luxury. Its position, architectural structure and beautiful gardens make of the Relais Ducale a charming unique “home”.
The 30 rooms and suites and the public rooms are decorated with fine antiques and paintings. Mrs Mencarelli, who also owns an antique shop in Gubbio, likes to regularly renew the furnishing with antiques that, sometimes, can be purchased by the guests.
Breakfast is served at the Bar Ducale or, during the summer months, outside on Piazza della Signora, from where you can enjoy wonderful view.
The restaurant La Taverna del Lupo, owned by the same family, is located a walking distance from the Hotel and for more than 30 years has been considered one of the Umbria’s finest restaurants.
