The Hotel has no big comforts and luxuries, simple old rooms, whit not safe, have not own garage, and the valetparking cost is very high Located in an unattractive zone many homeless in the streets aroud the Hotel. Definitely would not return there.
It's a pretty nice hotel due to its price. It is just near to Union Square. It's very convenient to go out.
Standard non smoking room with Queen, King, Doudle/Single or Double/Double bed, (depending on availability and number of people), with private bath-shower combination, color TV with remote control and cable service, AM/FM radio, wireless high speed internet (fee applies), direct dial telephone with voicemail feature, desk with modem hook-up, hair dryer - Smoking is not permitted in any of the hotel rooms.
Hotel is in the Tenderloin area which is not so tender. Lots of homeless and drug addicts but at the end we still felt safer than on the east coast. We picked the hotel for it's price and proximity to the bart station which is 1 minute away. Our room was a bit hot. There is no A/C but a big fan is provided in the room. Parking is on Jones St behind the hotel for $15 overnight rate. California Bakery right next to the entrance on the corner is good.
We went to a Giants game, shopping and the Fisherman's Wharf. The hotel was good, however, some of the things they promise in the information on the room was not provide (ex. no iron, safe or refrigerator). One of the elevators was out of order, the ice machine on our floor was out of order, and the coffee machine in the lobby was out of order. Everytime I left the hotel I had to take my $ and electronics and lock it up at the office safe. It was an inconvience to have these thing out of order with a child. When I went to get ice, coffee or even to the front office to lock things up I had to take my 11 year old with me. I research other hotels on the trip that would be more convenient for us. I wish your company would be more informed out these hotels for people with children. Let people know with children about area and that there is a stripper club across the street.
The hotel itself was very nice--big comfortable bed, good amount of space in the room, nice bathroom. The single elevator was very slow, and only one ice machine (and NO soda machines) were working in the entire hotel. The area around the hotel has definitely seen better days--lots of beggars, homeless people, and folks generally down on their luck. But walk a few blocks in most directions and you're in a different neighborhood. If you're ready to walk and explore, this is a great place. Given the people I met and interacted with in the lobby, this place is popular with foreign travelers, young couples, families with older children, and groups that are looking for an adventure. If you want to step out the door and quickly be at one of the tourist sites, you may get frustrated. You can easily get onto the F-line streetcar (to Pier 39), you are only a few blocks from a MUNI/BART station, and many different bus lines pass right by this location. The hotel is a very good place to sleep and rest, but to do anything else, you will have to get out and explore. But for the price, it's a very good deal if you are up for that.
Great experience -My luggage was mis-laid by the airline and the Staff were very helpful throughout. Mine was only an overnight stay but the Hotel is in a convenient location for the price.
This is a great hotel if you want to see San Francisco. Fantastic access to public transport, close to everything and easy to find. The staff here are universally fantastic, pleasant, helpful and generous with their time and knowledge. One downside though is the traffic noise - it's on a major road and there's a fair bit of traffic all night. Didn't bother us but it could bother others. cheers
The Renoir is centrally located with street cars and train at your doorstep. It does not have refrigerator, air-conditioning or in room beverages. The restaurant was closed when we stayed. The street is quiet noisy and the area seems to have more than its fair share of homeless. It is old but clean and the staff are professional and helpful. We would stay there again.
The hotel is in a homeless area and a bit dated. Our room was very clean with all necessary facilities. Transport was very close with the 'F' bus stop and Bart train stop only a block away. No restaurant but nice bakery just opposite.
While the hotel is old (1909) it was clean, neat and well situated. The staff were the best I have seen in over 30 years of traveling - friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and most importantly, universally and genuinely cheerful. The breakfasts were outstanding too with staff willing to meet the needs of early tours. It's not 5 star and the one issue was that it was a bit noisy but not unmanageable. The hotel was a big surprise, much better than I thought it was going to be considering some of the reviews I read and overall it was a great experience. It made our stay in San Francisco the more enjoyable for having somewhere we could look forward to going "home" to. Thanks
hotel's location is excellent! transportation is just across the street, restaurants and shopping malls are within the vicinity. If ill get the chance to visit san francisco again, I will surely choose this hotel. Will recommend this hotel to all my friends.
There were a lot of homeless people hanging around the streets surrounding the hotel. The hotel itself was clean and the staff was friendly. It was within walking distance to Powell to catch the tram, and right next to the BART's Civic Station, so you can get there very easily from the Airport.
A good clean establishment, located within a healthy walk of nearly all that their is to enjoy in San Francisco. The immediate area is not the most beautiful, though we encountered no hassle from anyone during our couple of days.
Old but cosy small hotel. Central location, very covenient.
The location is very goodI
Good service! I came early in the moring and a receptionist was happy to get me to check in.
So cold room. Heating system is failed frequently. I stayed with cold air in long night. And most hotels in SF offered free wireless internet. But Renoir hotel did not provide free wireless internet and its signal is so poor.
Funky little hotel, nice bar, good location.
Helpful staff but location on Market St means that the tramp population of SF is on your doorstep. Otherwise it is great because trams pass by the door and cable cars are not far away. Rooms average.
It's nice historic hotel, but additional parking cost 30$ is too expensive.
