The hotel is very close to the JR Kyoto Station (It takes about 5 minutes on foot). You can find various restaurants with reputation there.
The hotel is a famous hotel with long history, as mentioned by Japanese friends. However, the hotel is a little old and worn. The hotel staff are polite and their service quick. The shuttle bus between the hotel and Kyoto station punctual and helpful. However, internet comes at cost and swimming pool is not free. Other than that, it is a good hotel and one should feel good staying in such a famed hotel.

Service was excellent and location was fantastic - only 3 minutes walk from the train station. As not many Japanese hotels do triples, there wasn't much choice and although this was a bit more expensive than we would've liked it was a lovely hotel, very clean and functional. We have absolutely no complaints and would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in Kyoto.
Nice hotel. A short walk from Kyoto Station. This hotel also provides shuttle service from Kyoto Station to the Hotel & vice versa. I just had to find out where the shuttle stop was!
I stayed three nights. Great location near Kyoto station and free shuttle service was very helpful. My only annoyance was that the free internet was landline only (no WiFi). Alternatively, it would be great if the PCs in the lobby were free.
Rihga Royal is convenient to the rail station, shopping areas and most tourist destinations. It is good value for money.
An excellent hotel in a very handy location. You can get buses to all the major tourist attractions from kyoto station for just 220 yen. The hotel is a two block walk from the station, or you can catch the free shuttle bus which runs about every 20 minutes. The hotel offered five star service, has nine restaurants and bars, and was very affordable.
very efficient shuttle bus service to and from station ( also walkable distance)
The hotel is relatively close to Kyoto Station and has a shuttle running there every 15 minutes if you do not feel like walking the short distance. However, don't expect any other freebies: they have wireless internet access and a swimming pool but both will cost you. Their "Top of Kyoto" revolving restaurant doesn't offer much of a view because Kyoto's skyline is not very interesting. The rooms are comfortable and the staff has decent English skills and was pretty helpful. They even provided a list of nearby stores or buildings that offer computer/internet access. I'm not sure what the average rates for Righa rooms are, but [website] provided a rate that was better than any other hotel or ryokan around Kyoto Station; I would recommend this place for those looking for minimal accommodations: affordable, convenient, private bathrooms, and comfortable sleep.
a first class hotel what more can you say please keep up the good work
The location of the Hotel is good. The bus shuttle between the Hotel and Kyoto Station is good. This service should be highlighted for those who are booking (for check in).
Faclities are a bit outdated, just like many Japanese hotels at this price range. Services are a bit slow.
The hotel have superior standards, the staff is particularly polite and warmful. The rooms are very clean and have large bathrooms.
The hotel was located about 10mins walk from the station. However, it was good that there was a frequent shuttle bus service to the station. The staff were extremely helpful, although there was some difficulty in communicating with them in English.
There was a free shuttle bus to the station every 10 mins until 9pm each day which was very useful.
Overall, our stay at this hotel was good with things like hotel shuttle bus to Kyoto station. Only issue was the price of the hotel was pretty high. Breakfast selection in 3 locations was good as we stayed 7 nites so we could choose to have breakfast in all the restaurants.
apart from the breakfast being expensive, an excellent hotel free shuttle bus to the station, a big plus English speaking staff a bonus
I had a wonderful stay. There is nothing else to say, other than that my stay was great!
Hotel's free shuttle bus servce to and from Kyoto runs from 7.30am -9.00pm is a real bonus. Rooms are spacious and CNN is available.
Standard room was a bit small, but the deluxe was excellent.
