Ritz Hotel Cape Town Guest Reviews

4.6 out of 5

The REception staff went out of their way to assist us when we arrived 2 hours earlier. The gentleman that took ou luggage up to the 13th floor was very friendly and his service fast and handled our luggage very well. The staff placed our frozen foods (Fish bought in Cape Town market) in the freezer and reminded us about it on check-out. The bed linen was crisp & clean and the room clean. We will definately we back!

This hotel is very well situated and is within walking distance to popular shops and restaurants as well as the V&A Waterfront. Our only criticism against the hotel was that we booked a triple room but there were always only 2 bath towels. We had to asked for the third one each day. The built-in cupboard doors are in bad need of repair and the bath needs to be re-enameled. Otherwise it was very comfortable.

Spent five nights here in February. Good value for money. Decor a little tired but rooms kept clean and hotel staff all very friendly, helpful and polite. Breakfast buffet excellent with vast selection of hot and cold food to choose from. Evening buffet was similarly good. Roof top revolving restaurant was slightly more expensive but food was excellent food and fantastic views over Cape Town and sdurrounding area although evening was slightly marred by over enthusiastic staff who like to clear empty crcckery from tables before all diners have finished eating! There are two bars, one on the first floor and one below the revolving restaurant. The latter is small and cosy but spolied (for non-smokers) by the fact that people can smoke in there. The first floor bar is, sadly, completely lacking in any form of atmosphere. However, we wouldn't hesitate to stay there again if we go back to Cape Town.

Although just about clean, this hotel is very tired looking. The room had obviously had a quick paint job presumably for the world cup last year but it needs a serious refurb. We only stayed there to eat at the revolving restaurant at the top, which was lovely, but frankly will not stay there again.

Location was ideal for our visit to Cape Town - we could walk to the Waterfront and the Cape Town Stadium for the U2 concert. Although we were given the wrong type of room at first, the reception staff sorted it out immediately and we were given a Deluxe Double Room. Breakfast Buffet was great. The food and service in the "Top of the Ritz" restaurant were amazing. I would have liked to have a hairdryer in the room though.

Upon entry the friendly service by franscois and reception was excellent, only the shower curtain in my room 1610 was too short, otherwise treated to a great breakfast like the variety although i'am vegetarian was well catered for without special request.will definitely give the ritz a thumbs up.

From the moment we arrived at the hotel we were made to feel at home, The staff were exceptionally friendly and nothing was too much trouble when requests were made by ourselves, The room was very comfortable and with great views looing over seapoint along with the new footbal stadium leading towards the waterfront, The revolving resturant was brilliant, The food was exceptional and great value for money and not fogetting the panoramic views of table mountain and robben island, We will definately book again and recommend that the same to anyone wanting a family orientated friendly hotel.... We thank all the staff for making our time spent in capetown a wonderful exprience....Thankyou very much.

In a lovely part of Capetown yet very close to te city. Excellent value with all the basics, except room fridge. Internet expensive but plenty of cheap and friendly net cafes nearby. Same for laundries, currency exchange, supermarkets and 7/11. Value for money.

Found their internet service very poor and expensive. It is a fair walk from V& A Waterfront but their are good restaurants and the beach very close. I would stay there again

The Ritz Hotel is a very old hotel that needs updating. The Lifts require maintenance…”Only one of the four was working on the day I left!” It is ideally situated with a multitude of activities in close proximity. The breakfasts are very good , so is the Food at the Restaurant at the top of the Ritz.

We stayed for several nights on two occasions each time in the last week. Our first rooms on the 7th floor were adequate and clean. During our second stay our rooms on the 14th floor were adjoining and were quite nice. Breakfast and restaurant and bar service was very nice.

Friendly staff, Great Food, Awesome Location, Stunning Views. Hotel is in dire need of refurbish, and the name eludes to some form of greatness, but is in no way connected to Ritz Carlton. Elevators are in need of repair. Public areas are OK, but the rooms are very shabby, but at least they are clean.

It was my second stay there in 4 years, and would stay again, its good value for money but my only wish is that the rooms had a small fridge when staying for more than a few days so i could keep chocolates & drinks cold.

We found the Ritz Hotel a great place to stay. Value for money was 100%. The staff were very pleasant and helful. It is an older hotel but want does one want other than -Clean bedlinen, fresh towels, and a shower and a good breafast to start the day.The pool looked lovely too. We were out and about daily. The cafe provided a good breakfast, and one could have lunch and dinner there too,as we did our first day being a bit jet-lagged. We took advantage of the tour desk & we toured The Cape one day and the Wineries the next -great.Our 1st day we went to Table Mountain. Our last night we had booked at the revolving restaurant on the 21st floor great to just walk to the lift and go up a beautiful meal.We did the hop on hop off bus our last day and could walk to the stop near the hotel. We would recommend this hotel

I booked a deluxe room and was placed in a standard room. Only upon asking later on what the difference was between the standard and deluxe room were I offered the oppurtunity to move - not with much friendliness from the ladies at reception.

Value for money. Nice personnel, good service; particularly at the swimming pool. Extensive breakfast. Can walk to the Waterfront, but take the bus at the busstop nearby.

This is a friendly hotel which although rather dated still provides all one needs for a comfortable stay. The food is very good and the pool facilities have been recently updated to a good standard. Recommend the higher floors especially the rooms ending in 01,02,11 or 12. Not really within walking distance of the V&A Waterfront but the neighbourhood has plenty of small restaurants and bars and a regular bus service into the city centre. Overall very good value.
