Excellent hotel, small but well equipped gym and good pool and spa facilities. about a 8 min walk to the bigg market for restaurants and pubs. Will definetly use this hotel again
Fine Hotel in a good location, a bit short of Parking though
Very comfortable room thank you, although bathroom was a bit chilly.
Much nicer than previous stay ,cleaner. Arrived totally shattered Fire alarm sounded three times from 1600 inc twice in the night. No apology received for false alarms. I was very concerned that rooms hadn't any " No Smoking " signs , other than a small inconsequential card on dresser there did not appear to be any NO SMOKING standard signs anywhere. Nor were there any other language signs
Perfect location and very friendly and helpful staff.
Convenient hotel very well situated near CBD and trainstation. Rooms partly renovated. Reception needs still update. Free parking is in front of the hotel near taxi waiting spot. Ordered a superior room, however got a standard room.
This hotel was well located next to the station and the major conference centre. While the general interior was a little on the faded side, the rooms had been renovated with modern bathrooms and comfortable beds. I would stay again.
There's a vague air of forgotten grandness about this hotel. As if, sometime in the past, it had been a rather swish place. As it is it is perfectly functional and superbly located for Newcastle's night life and railway station. Road access is a trifle awkward due to local one way systems and parking is not what it might be. Staff were polite if not very pro-active. Having been told that my room was "room only" rather than B&B it would have been good policy to have tried to interest me in the hotel breakfast...a lost opportunity for them. A bit more attention to detail would have made this a break to remember.
This is a very convenient hotel if you do not know the area as there are excellent signs to the main station from the outskirts of Newcastle. It is a pleasant walk to the shops. The hotel has kept much of the old, original quaintness and yet the rooms are well appointed for the price. We were warned that there were parties on around the time of our stay and yet, apart from a few doors banging during the night, we were not disturbed by undue noise. We paid the extra for a superior room and felt it was value for money. We would certainly use this hotel again and would recommend it to others.
An old hotel with a lot of charm. Centrally located, next door to the main train station.
Lovely period building in need of renovations
not exactly disabled friendly...lots of stairs on each floor (even if you use the lift)
Simply over rated and over priced, it wins on reputation, which presumably will fall, and on location, which is great for being in the centre of all things Newcastle.
We had two twin rooms booked - one was very large, the other quite small. Both were the same price so if you don't thin your room is as good as it should be, worth asking at reception. I only found out about the difference the day we were leaving.
Well located in central Newcastle the rooms are comfortable but in those we had the station noise was annoying. Like all English hotels the pricing is expensive.
We were given a room that was NOT as described in the add, things were not supplied as the add on the web stated. When I broched the subject with the staff I was given short shrift with no sorry, as they were unable to say what rooms had what? The Hotel was in a very good position but EXTREMLY NOISY, not only from other guests but also from staff emptying bottles from one contaier to another at various times during the early hours. All in all a uncomfortable stay. And we wont be returning to this hotel.
Knowledge of surrounding area's was minimum. Could not give info on location to be visited which when asked outside Hotel was 200 yards down the road. Girl at reception did not listen to other requests (seemed in another world).
This hotel lacked a friendly atmosphere. No welcome greeting on arrival at reception. The only friendly staff appeared to be the housekeepers/cleaners and leisure centre attendant. Management staff at reception were particularly cold and unwelcoming. Definately would not stay there again.
the weekend i stayed the heating in my room did not work, the water in the shower was cold on the saturday evening & when returning to the room on saturday night the police had been called to the hotel and where making an arrest on my floor as i got out of the lift. i will not be staying there again.
Clean room and very good bathroom. Bed rather short and television reception poor.
