"Maybe we were just unlucky, but our room was so narrow that we had to take turns to get past the foot of the bed. The tiny sitting area had a wobbly table and 2 chairs that had to be moved around if you wanted to open the closet. The pillows we had (foam) were so hard we both had neck-aches after sleeping on them. We asked for feather pillows, but the hotel didn't have any. So our souvenirs from Edinburgh are pillows bought at BHS. The bathroom was 4 star as was the restaurant: excellent food. Friendly service, but the room was not what we expect for a 4-star rating. "I enjoyed my stay in the hotel and was very happy with the room I was given as I was given an upgrade on booking in. The bar was quiet but the barman was very pleasant. I was a little dissapointed with the meal on the Saturday night as it was Easter weekend and there was limited choice compared to the menu on the hotels site. The location was as expected apart from the climb from the main town but you can't do anything about geography." - Anonymous

Getting there: The Royal Terrace Hotel is easily accessible from Edinburgh Airport and Waverley Train Station. Transport from airport by taxi with approximate cost of £25. Transport from airport by airport bus is £5.00 per person return, and drop off at Waverley Bridge. Only a 10 minute walk from there. Waverley Train Station is only 10-15 minute by foot, or 5 minute in taxi.
Check-in Procedure: Check in time after 2pm (3pm on Sunday). On check in you will be asked to supply a valid credit or debit card, where a pre-authorisation for your accommodation costs plus a small amount for any incidentals will be required.
Car parking: On street parking available opposite hotel, which is metered Monday - Friday 8.30am-5.30pm. £1.20 per hour and meter can be fed in 4 hourly intervals. Alternative parking available in Greenside Carpark (NCP), only 5 minute walk from hotel.
Child Policy: Chilren 5 and under stay free when sharing with 2 adults.
Children 5-12 stay free and pay for breakfast when sharing with 2 adults.
Children 13 and over are charged at adult rate.
