The over night stay was really good no problems , good value , room was as i expected and the staff were very good. I would stay there again next time I am in Canberra.
No concierge so the first room smelt of smoke, after a complaint we were changed. Pool over run by children swimming lessons. No herbal tea $30 deposit for the use of an umbrella even though they ha our room number.... Overall could easily be improved

We enjoyed our stay at The Rydges Capital Hill Canberra. It was just walking distance to the great Manuka shops in Griffith. Staff are very friendly and the inside court yard was a great place for coffee among the indoor trees. Everything was excellent however the room we stayed in was a bit stuffy at night but we could slide open the balcony door for fresh air when necessary.
We choose Rydges Capital Hill because of its location to places we wanted to see nearby as well as the shops and resturants at Manuka and Kingston. Also the weekend (Saturday & Sunday) room rate was the best value for Canberra southside. Disappointed the Imbargo bar did not open at 5.00pm Sunday. We had a late breakfast Monday and some food items had run out and not been replaced. The King Spa room was very comfortable and clean. The colour on some channels on the TV made the faces look like they had a burnt chocolate skin. All the reception staff looked like they knew their job but appeared as though they were afraid to smile. As the first point of contact on entering the hotel you want to be greeted with a smile and enthusiasm.
The hotel was fantastic. Extremely friendly staff and very efficient room service. The breakfast at the hotel restaurant was beautiful. I would definitely stay there again.
Staff are very helpful and extremely polite, nice environment. The lobby is comfortably furnished and spacious and the dining / breakfast area appeared large and well laid out. The hotel offer a special “free membership” discount of 20% off food and accommodation in addition to special internet rates.
Not enough people at reception during 'peak times' - there was always a long line of people waiting to be served.
We were given a very spacious room at Rydges, but it did show quite a fews signs of general wear and tear. It seems to be in need of a fresh lick of paint, but the stay was pleasant.
It would be good if they can accommodate early check-in in the future for guests with babies.
A nice hotel close to many of Canberra's scenic and special visiting must do's.
My wife and I stayed for 2 nights--excellent staff who gave us caring attention--We where in Canberra for medical reasons and needed easy access to Deakin. The hotel offers great facilities eg heated pool, gym ,beautiful garden courtyard areas and near Manuka shops etc. We would definitely stay there again . We may arrange to have a weekend family gathering there.
We appreciated the support from the reception staff even though we were locals out to celebrate our birthdays. A most enjoyable stay
great location, no hassels booking in.
Large room, comfy bed older style hotel in need of some refurbishment. The noise from other guests doors, shower and toilet was annoying.
For the price, below standard. Unfriendly check in. Room not well set-up. Table and other furniture had damage marks. Aircon can not be sufficiently adjusted. Overheated or to cold in winter.
Comfortable bed but the sheets were crisp and noisy.
I've stayed here A LOT in the past couple of years. I'm noticing a gentle slipping in attention to detail. A TV remote that wouldn't work consistently and the TV had to be turned off at the power point; a bar fridge that dripped and crackled all night and also had to be turned off; less consumables in the bathroom; pillows all of the one uncomfortable size; no doona cover, instead wrapped in a large sheet that tangled all night and had to be stripped off; being asked to fill in all of my details at check-in despite having stayed there frequently. This used to be rated Good+ in all aspects
Large rooms, good value for the price.
Great location for access to the trendy restaurant strip at Manuka. Can walk from hotel. Views of Parliament house. Hotel is a bit tired, but rooms have been refurbished and has everything you need. King bed and spa was great. Will stay again purely for the location.
While the overall cleanliness, facilities and service were all as expected, we did have 2 problems. There were ants crawling along the cornices and down the walls in the entryway. They then moved into the bathroom, so we had ants on the walls, floor, in the bath and in the toiletries bags. Housekeeping offered to spray, but we declined. Unfortunately we were unable to change rooms. Also, we were unable to access the in-house movies due to a technical fault which the hotel was unable to rectify. We then had to speak to the outside supplier 3 times with no resolution to the problem. The hotel gave us a bottle of wine to compensate. Had these two things not happened we would have been happy with the accomodation.
