Rydges Eagle Hawk Resort Canberra Guest Reviews

3 out of 5

Located on the Federal Highway at the ACT/NSW border about 15 kms from CBD, this resort was ideal for a one night stopover between Melbourne and Newcastle. The whole property is a bit jaded but clean and quite comfortable - bed was extremely comfy. Room was typical '80s but large with queen and single beds, ensuite adequate with complimentary products. Didn't use wifi, pool or gym but ate dinner at the restaurant - reasonable menu and prices. Altogether, we thought it was good value and would stay again.

Although our stay was made very pleasant by staff, the facility needs to be maintained a little where shower bases are leaking water.

If you haven't got a vehicle, this hotel isn't for you. It is in the middle of nowhere. We stayed one night and the room was freezing. We had the air con heater on all night. There is a massive gap between the door and the floor. We had to put our suitcases up against the door to try and stop the draft.

The staff were very courteous & helpful, the rooms tidy and it was an easy place to find and it is a good motel for people with children. The only issue I had was that noise carried from outside and the connecting room .

Please beware - if you have a Garmin Sat Nav it will display 2 locations for this hotel, one of which is a youth detention centre off Federal highway. The hotel is actually in NSW, off Federal highway, just on the ACT border.

We have stayed in numerous hotels in the area, this is now our preference, a very relaxed setting, 10 min drive & your shopping or eating out in Canberra.

We went to escape a hot weekend in Canberra. We enjoyed our "trip away", and I was particularly impressed with the meal in the restaurant. Because the location is set in bushland, we also got to see kangaroos and a wallaby very close to our room - lovely.

The Room was cold and no AC or heater controls in room. It was raining heavily and had to walk from the car in the rain to get to the rooms.
