The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly, giving us direction to transport and suggesting places to dine as the restaurant was closed due to a public holiday.
The location of this hotel was very convenient for me. It is very accessible on public transport and is close to the Uni and to the Newtown cafes etc. Although near to a busy road it was quiet and I found the staff very professional and attentive. For me, it was in the right area and price bracket. I was satisfied with the value.
Accommodation just 10mins from the CBD. Great value breakfast available PLUS new broadband internet in all rooms. Bar and Restaurant newly refurbished, & happy hour 7 nights a week.
Helpful & friendly staff. Clean well appointed rooms & a great location 15 mins walk from King St , 20 mins walk to Glebe restaurants.
This hotel would be classed as a 'Budget-style hotel' - you get what you pay for!(???) Its proximity to the city and Newtown's shops and eateries was great as was access to public transport. We experienced a few disturbing occurrences during our 2 day stay, alerting the evening manager-on-duty, who was very apologetic and prompt to rectify the problems. My young family and I will not stay at this hotel again - the unhygienic bathroom in our original room (problem was not fixed several hours after notifying morning staff and we demanded another room); the lack of hot water, threadbare bedsheets and an extremely hazardous faulty window lock (several stories high, in the second room offered to us); and a hazardous bath-tub plug hole ie no protective cover, just a hole large enough for a child's foot to get stuck (that was the third room offered so we could access hot water!) Not a positive Christmas-time hotel stay, but certainly one we shall never forget!
This is the 2nd year in a row that I have stayed here and this time I was very disappointed. Upon arrival, I had to get housekeeping to come and reclean the bathroom after noticing that the toilet had not been cleaned. Both the shower and the air conditioning were not working and I had to get room service up twice to bring missing items from breakfast which in turn was not very pleasant (food overcooked and cold). The only saving grace was that I was not charged for the breakfast. I mainly stay at this hotel for the convenience of location but I will be rethinking the next time.
All the staff we dealt with were very helpful and tried their hardest to accommodate us during our stay.
It's a good hotel and very conveniently located to Sydney and the areas where I teach. The hotel is looking a bit tired particularly some of the bathrooms.
we attended a function in the area it was in a convenient located we have stayed there previously
this is a tired hotel, probably a 2 star rating or, if one was very generous, 3 star. Wouldn't want to cost more than $120AUD/night! It needs painting and bathroom need updating badly - broken clothesline in my room! Lighting abysmal to read by! OK if you are only there to sleep - and yes, it was quiet and the bed comfy. Near Uni, so probably suits conference attendees, but not general public as it is not close to anything.
the carpet in the hallways was stretching ang creasing the plumbing was leaking in bathroom, is looking old and tired as in need of a good refurbishment
Very expensive considering the location, distance from CBD, lack of access to trains and in comparison with other accommodation we stayed in at Sydney CBD and Bondi. Having free on site parking was a defiinite plus.
Great hotel, 11am checkout a bonus, free car park a bigger bonus and whith in walking distance of King street and awsome restaurants
I found the staff to be excellent. They were eager to help and very friendly. The rooms are spacious and adequate. Although sometimes it appeared that the chamber staff do not restock the tea/coffee draw. Maybe it had been overlooked the day prior? I am sure I asked for "non-smoking" however, I was put on the smoking floor. All of the bedding overwhelmingly smelt of smoke which led me to believe that they do not change the blankets and bed spread all that often. The bathrooms, including the foyers toilets are in desperate need of renovation. The toilet seat needed replacing. The plumbing was in need of service. I had to flush 2-3 times to have a clean bowl. Overall, I would stay there again.
I stayed in Rydges Camperdown several times when I visited my son who is doing studies in Sydney Uni. The facilities in the hotel rooms are a bit old. Last year parking is free. However, we needed to pay for parking this year. The room rate didn't increase much, more or less the same as last year, but you need to pay more to stay in the hotel.
Service at reception is good, Ms Jess was helpful and her attitude must be followed by others. For example if a key card persistently fails to operate it is never the fault of the guest. She was always helpful to reinstate it.Unlike the rest of the staff who just seem puzzled and questioned the guests ability to use a key card. The bar staff should also be advised to be helpful in being more helpful and kind to older guest who ask for hot water. Your room kettle was dirty my mom who is 70 goes down on her own with her flask to ask for hot water but each time the bar staff seemed unhelpful and indifferent to an old ladys request. Thank you
Reception staff excellent, pity about one dining room staff too busy sending a text on her mobile phone to notice a customer was waiting. Room was clean. Bathroom was not great needs some maintence and revamp. NoT value for money. Location great for hospital access.
For the price you pay, the hotel is in very bad need of a face lift.
Restaurant staff were very efficient, polite and helpful
The part of the hotel I stayed in was very "tired". Paint was chipped and stained, for example, and curtains were off their tracks. The carpet in the foyer outside the lifts on my floor was very stained and unimpressive. The hotel however was very central to my conference at the Univ of Sydney so I over looked those things.
The food in the restaurant has improved since my last, and a special deal of 2 courses for $20 was great. A small plumbing problem was dealt with quickly and efficiently. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The location is great for me, close to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and Sydney University.
