Rydges Hotel Rotorua

Excellent venue, within easy reach of city shops, etc. We stayed over a weekend to attend our friends' 40th wedding anniversary celebrations at the hotel itself. Rooms were very spacious, spotless, warm, with great views of the lake from our balcony. We had read previous reviews prior to booking, and had concerns, but these were quickly dispelled, and we would most certainly stay there again. Our only negative comment would be the excessive cost of the room's minibar drinks and restaurant main meals, otherwise a very enjoyable stay.

Spa baths in room very noisy.

Friendly staff. Big room and big private spa, it is perfect for us having 2 little kids. We will stay there again.

Overall my stay was pleasant . There were either some very noisy visitors or staff on my floor which went on until 11.30 each day and begab at 5.30. Also there was a smell of smokers in the corridor > my room No was 206 . I also had a bar of chocolate that I had purchased removed rom the fridge

The only quirk would be the shower curtain over the bath...the bottom of the curtain was mouldy. thought it should have been nice and clean and white. Should of been changed. Apart from that - it was lovely.

Very pleasant stay, the room overlooked the racecourse and was within 20 mins walking distance of the town and Polynesian spa. There was no safe in the room, but these were provided at Reception with a personal key. Staff very pleasant.

The hotel is a short cab ride from the centre of town, quite a long walk, so not as conveniently located if you were wanting to be close to the Events Centre. That said the cab fare is around $13. I was upgraded to a King Bed, the room was enormous with a Spa and on the ground floor. The air conditioning worked well and there was no offensive odour that Rotarua is famous for. Front desk and dining staff were very friendly and anxious to please (New Zealanders are renowed for this).

The Hotel looked old and not fully refurbished. No Air Conditioning in the room (just a fan). Food in the restaurant was quite bad, I would try to avoid it next time.

A good quality hotel near the racecourse with good facilities. The room was huge and quite well decorated with a balcony overlooking the racecourse. Service at reception was friendly and efficient. We would stay here again if we revisited Rotorua. Great value for a hotel of this standard.

Service was good. The accomodation was very tired and access through the back door was a little ordinary, but other than that all was ok.

Love the big room's. Always stay there when I am in town. Only down side is no aircons for the warmer nites!

We had a room on the 4th level that was huge, the room was nicely furnished with very a comfotable bed. The staff were friendly and helpful, the price we paid included breakfast which was scrumptious.

Have stayed here many times before but this [website] booking would be the cheapest price we have ever paid for Rydges accom. We thought a deluxe room would give us one of the spa rooms but no such luck. However room we were in was spacious and well appointed. I do wish they would bring back the in room plunger coffee they had when they first opened. Nice restaurant food for dinner

My only comment is that I am sure that my profile asks for a non-smoking room. The room we were in although very clean did have a smell of cigarettes when we first arrived. Luckily we could open the windows and let fresh air blow through. Otherwise a great stay. The staff in the resturant were excellent and catered to our requirements as I am allergic to many foods.

The Rydges Rotorua in my opinion from the room i stayed in desperately need to upgrade thir bathroom facilities, their sauna and gym equipmment could also do with an upgrade. Their staff are friendly and their food was great.

We were very happy with the room - it was very spacious and enjoyed the spa bath. Also enjoyed the heat pump as it was a very wet & cold weekend! It was a pity the treadmill in the gym was broken as I was looking forward to making use of it.
