Rydges Sabaya Resort Port Douglas Guest Reviews

4.6 out of 5

We got an upgrade to a one bedroom apartment and the facilities were excellent, very modern and clean.

It is a beautiful hotel but was really cleaned very well. The floor in the room was sticky as if it had not been mopped with a clean mop. The bath also had old hair and scum in it which I was pretty surprised to see as the rest of the hotel was presented well. Although the restaurant was very poorly staffed and tables were not cleaned from the night before when we were having breakfast at 10am. There was food on the floor as well from the night before.

Reasonably nice apartment, but poor privacy with balcony looking into adjacent apartments. Reception at check out was very unfriendly. Had arranged 12md checkout, but still someone came to our door at 10am to ask when we were leaving.

Nice rooms, good location, reception very friendly and helpful, but restaurant and both bar services very bad, barstaff has no knowledge of cocktails except for the few on the menu, also staff could not find liqueur glasses and glasses for Irish Coffee. Restaurant staff has no knowledge about the food they are serving, and the food was not very good either.

Found the Hotel to be understaffed therefore service was very poor. First night we had dinner at the restaurant and found the food to be below average and we did not eat there again. The room we stayed in had not been cleaned properly as there were still reminants from the previous occupants. On a good note liked the layout of the hotel, great location just needs to be managed a little bit better as it has alot of potential.

The kitchen in the 2 bedroom apartment consists of 2 hot plates and a convection microwave oven, as well as a bar fridge. It is adequate for two people, but a bit squeezy for four. It would be good if the resort had a bbq area. The swim up bar at the pool was good fun, with cocktails for $15. It's worth becoming a Rydge's Priority Guest (for free) when you check in, for 20% off the cost of drinks. Breakfast buffet (which was included in the price) was great! Would stay here again.

Good hotel. Only complaint is pool is a bit lacking with no true whirlpool/hot tub (not hot enough) and not enough lounge chairs around the pool. However, staff was very helpful. Very nice breakfast buffet.

Our only criticism of the resort applies to the poolside facilities. There were not enough sun lounges to go around. It was a bit off putting to wander down to the pool with book, towel, etc. and have nowhere to 'lounge'. If you missed out you needed to change your plans. We stopped bothering to try and opted to walk to the beach rather than compete with other visitors.

We only stayed there for two days but settled in very quickly. We have stayed in Port Douglas many times but never in a resort with the facilities this one offered and we were pleasantly surprised. Our nine year old daughter loved it there as there were other children to play with. I think we may be staying there again but for a longer period!

I found the hotel fantastic, beautiful place to stay all day, buses every ten minutes into town, or a ten minute walk to the beach. Staff very friendly. I wouldn't hesitate to stay their again on my next visit. Thank you for making my holiday stay a memorable one.

I had a pleasant 4 day stay. Two bedroom villa was comfortable and clean, though looking a little aged. Nothing serious, some minor paintwork tidy up, etc. Pool facilities, breakfast facilities were excellent. Location is a few kilometres out of town, and very quiet. Personally I found it useful to have a car, as I preferred to drive into town for dinners, though shuttle buses are available. Overall, a nice quiet place to relax.

We were so impressed with this hotel, that we decided we would consider other hotels in the chain for future holidays. My most memorable experience is the wonderful continental breakfast, served so fresh and to suit any palate. Anyone planning to stay here will not be disappointed.

Better and bigger than we expected! Our 2 bedroom villa was a surprise - 2 stories, balcony for each bedroom (with different views), carport etc. Facilities were great - many pools, big-screen TV in sports bar, nice restaurants, gardens and so on. Only drawback, was distance from Port Douglas shopping centre - a long walk if you don't have transport, but an easy bike ride if you hire from the Resort.
